ATL Meetup - November

edited November 2008 in General
Well, we had a split meetup this month - some met last week and some met this week. The bonus prize for meeting this week was having Chad & Rachael there. It was a crazy day for several of our shibas - there were a lot of dogs there and they were pretty rambunctious. I forgot to dose Jazz so she was very reactive, but we had no shaking or drooling. It was a little cool, but it was a good day. We didn't take a lot of photos, but here's some of what we got:

We felt we did justice today in discouraging other people from wanting shibas - that's how snarky they were today.

The last one is great...the look on Niko's face with pubububububu (how the hell do you spell her name??)
You just had to get a shot of the fat lazy pregnant woman...thanks!
Great pics LJ, Niko is such an attention whore.
Brad-You cant tell but Chad has lost a good amount of weight...I think like 40 pounds...
Dave-good choice not to come...there were a lot of rude, untrained and not very socially ept dogs there.

The park was very segregated...I do think that all now fear the shiba!

Awww, I'm sad I missed it. Joey would've got everyone back in line. ;-)

But for Lucy's sake, it was right not to come. It also killed me because it was such a beautiful day! I miss you guys!

BTW, for those of you who watch "It's me or the dog", if you saw the episode from 2 or so weeks ago where the lady had a crazy hyper boxer, an Italian greyhound, and an obese beagle....that's the dog park they went to. :-)

I'm pretty sure they were all there and then some.

At one point we looked around and all the non-shiba owners were standing at least 10 feet away from our group. We knew we had done our job at that point.

It was a nice day and the Shibas were definitely out in full force. The larger dogs were just insanely bad today which, of course, only aggravates the already reactive Shibas. Niko and Pububu (??) were hilarious to watch. Sadie and Marley have been passed out for hours. Tons of people left there hating Shibas. It was *definitely* a good day! :)

Great pics! hahah I have a question though.....In the fourth and fifth pics where the gentleman is holding up the pup....why do shiba's do that?? Honey does it....and every other shiba I've ever seen does that Airplane thing. lol

    We always called that Batman

I have no idea, unless it's a control thing. Matt held Sadie like that for a while, I took about 7-8 photos of him holding her.

I was nervous about that too with Miso, I took him to the vet because I thought he had a problem with his legs! :P

Jazz does it too and she loves to be held.

Niko will NOT do that. I told Matt to go ahead and try and she convulses like she is having a seizure.

LOL. Yeah, I'm pretty sure its a control/balance thing. Lucy and Joey both do that, although I haven't held them like that in a while. Pretty much the only time I do is when I'm taking them off my lap and start squirming, I'll hold them like that until they calm down and then put them on the floor.

Koshi does what I call his 'helicopter' thing when he is held: his hind legs swing around in a circle and it seems like his top half is swirling the other way!

I noticed a couple Shibas had on Puppia harnesses. Harlow has one and it makes her feel very secure when we walk in unfamiliar territory. It really calms her down as opposed to a collar and leash, where she will pull and choke herself if she gets apprehensive.
