Super Jumpy Dogface Rakkabot

edited December 2008 in Shikoku Ken (四国犬)
Here's some snow spam - pretty much all of Rakka because she goes nuts in the snow, whereas Tojo and Navi get "princess paws" syndrome (they're always trying to keep one paw out of the snow, and don't run around too much). I've had to coax them to go on walks at all some days and Tojo just goes back and sits on the porch halfway through most of the time, lol. Anyway, here goes:

Rakka is pretty much a super athlete. I didn't think she'd be able to jump up this snowdrift, but she did! She was mighty interested in those rabbit tracks.

None of the pups are crazy about the squirrel dude unless I'm throwing it, so I attached a rope. Matches the leash I made!

Here we see "princess paws" in action. Tojo has given up on standing and is laying on his side with his paws tucked to his belly.

...And finally, here's pretty Navi.

I should make boots for the pups... I think the cold snap will end soon anyway, though. They only get princess paw syndrome when it's really cold, and it never stays this cold for too too long.

Rakkkkkkaaaaaaa <3 She looks like a wolf running wild in those pictures! Gorgeous :)

haha I can't blame Tojo & Navi :p I have a certain disdain for the snow as well & can't imagine walking around barefoot in it ;)

Thanks for the spam :) ~

Rakka is pretty. She looks so happy running through the snow.

And Tojo and Navi are gorgeous too!

Love the shot of Rakka running up the crest of the snow drift.

Tojo needs to toughen up. Have him look in the mirror and say "SHIBA! SHIBA!" over and over again.

Also, Rakka is my #2 Shikoku. After I steal Ahi, I'm driving north.

What pretty snow! I just love to see dogs having a good time. I also have a dog with "princess paw syndrome" - is there a cure?

Seriously. The 2 shots of Rakka running up the drift are awesome. Seeing a dog exploring fresh snow is so cool. Thanks for sharing. :-)

SNOW!!! Rakka looks like she is having a blast. :)

And poor Tojo and Navi. Silly little princess paws! If you do get boots for them, you must let me know how they work. Bella has a terrible case of princess paws.

Great photos Heidi! I especially like the 2 of Rakka with the grasses poking through the snow. I think that those are framing quality. She looks like she is having so much fun!

I am surprised that your other 2 don't like snow as much! I thought that all spitz breeds liked snow! But then again, I have only owned Siberians and Shikoku, and they do love snow!

hummm....As a thought ....maybe the snow is balling up under their paws into ice pellets the reason their feet and toes hurt. Sometimes the fur or lack of it on the feet and in between toes allow the snow to ball up so it makes moving painful. The shape of the foot itself and the the way the nails grow also is a factor.

It looks like fun, I want to go visit the snow! Great Rakka pics, I don't know how I missed this thread.

More Rakka in the snow please!

How long does it last before it all melts?

These are great pics! One thing is for sure - Shikoku LOVE the snow! I am always surprised at how much the our Shikas love playing in the snow and how amazingly good they are at it.

    Great spam Heidi!
