We're here! I've been in forum-withdrawal since BEFORE my Chicago trip! Here's the rundown of our travels. (Sango is referred to as Roxy in this narrative)

FRIDAY - 6 hrs
We decided to go to Oklahoma a day early to get the pups used to the hotel before we had to leave them while we attended the wedding/reception on Saturday. We left Friday afternoon around 4 pm and stopped in Springfield, MO (about an hour and a half in) to visit two pet supply stores (to get the pups some goodies and to let them walk a bit). Here are the pups napping on the way to Oklahoma:

Here is our little "jumper" on her perch:

We checked into our Tulsa hotel around 10ish and *tried* to get the pups to calm down enough to sleep. Ryu was on major guard mode and barked at anything that walked by our door. Roxy did fantastic. She even jumped down in the middle of the night to pee on her pad.

SATURDAY - 0 hrs!! yay!
Here are the pups playing on Saturday:

On the way back from Petsmart in Tulsa:

Saturday evening, we left the pups in their crates with some food-stuffed kongs and went to the wedding/reception. Roxy finished her kongs before we left! We call her "Cobra" because she will literally snatch a treat out of Ryu's mouth if he doesn't chew quickly enough. Ryu's such a lovebug that he lets her do it without so much as a growl. She also scarfs down her dinner without chewing so we got her the "brake-fast" bowl which really helps slow her down. Its quite fascinating to see them switch roles. Ryu doesn't do anything if Roxy grabs a treat as he's opening his mouth to take it. But Roxy won't do anything if she drops her dental chew and he snatches it from underneath her. I'm always there in the middle of them in both instances and I can't believe how they do that. Anyway, this is us at the reception:

We leave the reception early because I'm worried sick about my babies and we turn in for the night. Ryu does MUCH better and we all get some great sleep.

SUNDAY - 12 hrs
We leave Sunday morning at around 8 am to head back to St. Robert, MO. We needed to do a couple more things at the house and figured the dogs needed a few hours to romp in the backyard. We leave St. Robert at 4 pm to start our long journey down south. Here are pups on trip leg #2 back to St. Robert:

By midnight, we're both pretty much zombies so we decide to stop in Memphis, TN. We didn't have a standing reservation so we stayed at the Red Roof Inn on a whim. We have a fanastic RRI in St. Robert that is brand new so we didn't think anything of it. WOW. That motel was scary. I half expected to see roaches scatter when I opened the door. But, it was midnight, the pups were restless so we stayed. And slept in our clothes. :)

MONDAY - 14 hrs
Monday morning, we get up bright and early and head out on the road at 7 a.m. We drive from Memphis straight home, logging in about 14 hours of drive time. We get to Atlanta at 4:30 pm. Dave, LJ and Rachael - I love you guys but I HATE Atlanta :) Here are the pups doing what they do best:

I decided to sit in the back with the pups while they napped:

This is Ryu telling us that he's tired of being in the truck. LOL:

And now we're finally home! Yay!

What a bad time to come through Atlanta!!

I'm glad you guys made it to SC and even happier knowing that when you come back through it'l be on a Saturday so not too much in the way of traffic then.

That's quite a trip! I can't believe how well they are doing together. That's amazing. The cuddle pics are just too cute, especially the one where Ryu is spooning Roxy. :-)

And Ryu's protest at being in the truck is so Shiba.

BTW, no offense taken, I despise Atlanta too. ;-)

Thanks Kristin! We realized that we didn't have ANY pictures of the two of us so we had to get a few in at the wedding :)

Jen: I'm still rooting for Nami but everyone keeps calling her Roxy and it fits her. I think I'm out-voted. :)

Dave: I'm pleased that they are getting on so well too. Ryu's such a lover that I'm not surprised. He's always had a thing for B&Ts too (remember Inuki?)

LJ: I know our next time coming through Atlanta will be much more pleasant! :D

The pups have been through a heck of a lot these past couple of days but they are doing incredibly well. We still monitor every interaction but they are pretty much best buds. Here's to hoping that will continue! :)

A few things I've learned about Roxy (still not her official name until we "adopt" her but we can't help but see "Roxy" when we look at her):
    1. She's very attached to me. She's my little shadow
    2. She's scared of men and new people.
    3. She is food-driven and just a tad food-agressive. Not in a dangerous, snarky way but in a "not afraid to take your treat" kind of way
    4. She likes to bite Ryu on the ankles to initiate play
    5. She hates her crate.

Looks like I have a bit of work to do! :D

Thanks for enjoying this journey with me. We are very happy :)

If you didn't have a bit of work to do, she wouldn't be a puppy.

I don't think you could ask for things to be going any better though considering all of the traveling.

Roxy seems like the perfect name for her.

I knew Ryu would take to her just like he took to Chloe. Miso and Ryu are very similar in their personalities and Miso just LOVES being with other dogs and when we brought Sake into the home it was instant love. Ryu is a great big brother and will help to teach Roxy all the things she needs to know (i.e. how to get spoiled, how to get on the couch/bed, how to look insanely cute if you did something wrong...)

Im glad they are both doing so well considering all the traveling you guys have done. It's nice to know your dogs can handle it. My dogs LOVE hotel stays, although Miso does the same thing and barks whenever something passes the door.

Keep up the great work Pam and Tim. Merry Christmas!

    Oh, Roxy is so cute.

It looks like they just absolutely adore each other! Maybe Ryu could teach Bella and Nola how to cuddle. :)

Considering she has been with you guys for less than a week, I think she is doing great! The little things will take some time with her getting used to her new environment and people. Once you get back home, I bet she will be a perfect little angel in no time!

ah, get used to #4. That is Tsuki's favorite way to get a rise out of Kitsune and get him playing.

Now that I think of it, 1, 3, and 4 are pretty much spot on with Tsuki... if thats how Roxy is - get READY for SPITFIRE! But its great fun, I love Tsuki antics. And I'm sure you'll love Roxy antics. Our favorite thing to say to one another (the hubby) when Tsuki is being overly dramatic with Kitsune is "Tsuk is craaaaazy". Its all we got, our only defense.
But she is a great dog, a really loving beautiful girl - I'm sure Roxy will fit that bill too!

Jen, you just spoke exactly about Sake...spot on...we say "Miso, what's your crazy sister up to now?"

    Someone had to do it...

hehe. That was how I wanted to spell it too but Tim liked Roxy with a "y" better :) How funny :P

They are really funny. Roxy will get a crazy spurt and start running circles around Ryu trying to get him to play. But as soon as he gets too wild, she'll stop, back up and run to me. They do this several times a day now. I can already see how much they will be able to entertain themselves. This morning, they were Shiba 500-ing throughout the house. Roxy is FAST!
