Christmas came early for the pups

edited December 2008 in General
Mainly because I'm impatient. I ordered the ruffwear approach pack II. I got it for $20 from ebay, brand new. Really good deal! It's a size small and fits Rakka and Navi on the same settings, so that's convenient. I was under the impression that the pack came off and you could use just the harness, though, so I'm slightly disappointed that the pack is sewn on and can't be removed. Not that disappointed, though.

As soon as I put it on Rakka she ran off to her kennel to sulk. Poor Rakka! I'm sure she'll get used to it. Navi had no problem with it. I thought the pics of Rakka sulking were sort of cute (in a sad way) so I thought I'd share.

aww, the pack looks great on them both!

Poor Rakka, i'm sure she'll get used to it eventually. Toby froze up the first time I put the pack on him, but he just ignored it after a while. When the pack goes on, its a good thing. Walk time! :)

Awwwwww, Rakka looks adorable as a sulking doggy!

Keiko did the freezing thing when she got her cone on too... and after a few days of it she would struggle when I tried to take it off, but be calm as can be when I put it back on!!! Silly pup :o)

Awww! Rakka looks so sad with it on! But she's such a pretty girl, the pack makes her look like a super hard worker! :)

Navi's precious. "Come ON mother. Do we HAVE to take pictures??"

    lol :) ~

Awww, poor Rakka. It'll get better, I promise. ;-)

I bought Lucy a winter jacket last week, but I've been taking it really slowly while acclimating her to it so there are no pictures yet. Hopefully soon. :-)

The palisades pack from ruffwear comes off the harness, the approach pack does not. But its double the cost.

Oh right, I got the palisades pack and the approach pack mixed up.

Man, $20 is a good deal. I wish they wouldn't act like they have been sucker punched after wearing a pack or jacket. It makes me feel a little bad that I am making them have fun.

Poor, poor Rakka. She looks so distraught...cute, but definitely distraught.

Nemo had the same reaction to a pack. I didn't have the will to continue to force it on him. Pictures of dogs sulking can be the best though.

Merry Christmas to you, your family and the dogs.

Does Tojo not get a pack?

Why is it that pictures of pups looking Miserable make us Smile the most? Rakka is so cute. Navi is pretty adorable too.

    Merry Christmas!

Brandon - I think I will get Tojo a pack eventually, but I didn't want to buy too many things for Christmas this year.

Jen - I plan to go hiking and on long walks with the pups carrying some stuff. Nothing too extraordinary! Oh yeah, and sometimes when I'm doing things around the property, I have little tools I need to carry with me, or I'm bringing something to my in-laws, so I could make the pups carry it to give them some work to do.

Brad - Do let us know how you find the packs in comparison.

For an update - I left the pack on Rakka all night, letting her sleep in it, and then took her out for a romp in it the next morning. She seems used to it by now, and just ignores it, so next I'll try adding a bit of weight.
