Water from sprinklers

edited January 2009 in General
My Takumi loves to play with water coming out of sprinklers when I walk him through the garden of my condominium. I' had never thought about this before I got him......Is the water from sprinklers regular water just like the water from facets in our house? Or do they possibly add something like fertilizer or some kind of chemicals?

Well, excellent question! With the obsession everyone has with a beautiful lawn you may be onto something there! I'd check with your office/homeowners association as soon as possible... They should know or be able to find out. That fertilizer/herbicide/pesticide stuff always comes with warnings about pets around here, so it can't be good for Takumi if they found a clever way to deliver it to the grass!

Wow, I would have never thought of this but it's a great question! Please ask your managment office and let us know!

I know this is a little OT, but try buying a cheapy spray bottle, similar to windex but never been used, and squirt it where Takumi can see it. In both the misting form and the stream form, Tetsu love going after the water sprays, and it's so funny to watch them. It's a fun game and I thought I'd mention it since the discussion is about playing in sprinklers.

Kouda loooooves the hose. It's almost an obsession.

I would think that unless they have some kind of separate holding tank specifically for the sprinkler system, that they cannot treat the water. I would assume that it's just water that comes from the same main as the the rest of the water used on the property. Otherwise, what would be the point of treating a pool after it's filled? (other than leaves, I guess ...)

    But always wisest to ask!
