Selected photos from the ATL Meetup (1/18/09)

edited January 2009 in Shiba Inu (柴犬)
I took Sunday's meetup as an opportunity to play around with my new lens. I've still got some figuring out to do, but some of the shots weren't half bad. My keeper rate was down around 32% (It was almost 65% at last months meetup with my old lens).

Some Shibas just like to stay at home base:

JoJo and JoJi. JoJi (we think) is related to Lucy. Poor JoJi had an "accidental" litter during her first heat and was in criminally poor shape when she was adopted from her "breeder". She's come a long way, but still has an even longer way to go:

Marley, as usual, proud that he's found his safe spot:

This is Kira, Joey's new girlfriend. She's an adorable 4.5 month old from a BYB. But we still love her. :-)

There is a LONG sequence of Joey and Kira being "passionate" with each other starting here:

I hope you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Awesome pics. It looks like good times were had by all. I'm glad to know that my Shiba isn't the only Shiba that likes to stay close to "home base". Hey LJ, it looks like Jazz has come a long way to being a sociable Shiba. Congratulations on her improvements.

    Hey Dave,
Is Joey starting to blow his coat? That last pic is adorable! Borderline indecent and cradle-robbing :p.

Jazz does much better when dosed with melatonin and indoors. She will wander around and smell other shibas - she trotted once or twice on Sunday. Because of her history of being left outside, I think she truly fears it - maybe afraid that she'll get left out there again.

As for her jump - I had the good treats out and she'll go crazy for those.

    Love the pictures.

Nice pictures! Looks like a very fun meetup. I am kind of mad at the guy wearing shorts in the 5th picture though. We are freezing up north!

It was in the low 50s, I think - but it was very hot inside the daycare.

Jesse. Joey has been blowing his coat for what seems like 2 months now, but I'm sure it less than that. His coat looks like crap right now.

Great pics - looks like a lot of fun... tho it looks like there are a lot of Shiba there but only a few play, is that true?

Kira is really cute, Joey has good taste in the ladies. lol

it varies - they were all pretty lowkey. We had one new one who was trying to figure things out, but Sadie, Niko, Sasuke, & Tibbets really weren't into playing that much. They just kind of chilled out. Pububuu is a major player and usually she, Joey, Niko, and Sadie play a lot.

Isn't it funny to see how excited we can get over something as simple as sniffing?
  • edited November -1
lol...when you have dogs like Ninja and Jazz, a simple look at another dog without growling is a huge leap forward!!! Sniffing is like winning the lottery!

Totally! I was giddy when I saw Jazz being social. She even had other dogs bumping into her and being rambunctious around her and she was completely fine.

As if I wasn't proud enough about Jazz, I even got kisses from Rachael's Sasha. First on the hand, and then when I took my hand away on my face!!!!!!

what a nice bunch of shibas :) sniffing ist the best!! :)

may i ask what's this doggy day camp? a place where you can left your dog if your busy?
  • edited November -1
It is a daycare similar to one for kids. Many people drop their dogs off in the monring and pick them up after work. Or, they'll drop them there for a couple of hours for some socialization time. In addition, a lot of the daycare do boarding for when you go out of town. We have several in Atlanta and a few are willing to loan us a play room for our meetups when we do them indoors. We have also had some dog boutiques also open up a room for us to meet in - it's a great alternative for when things just get a little cold to spend a couple of hours outside in the park.

    HEY!
I thought I would stop in and look at the pics.
I am so glad that the girls were able to go. Thank you so much LJ.
I have had a difficult time recovering and they needed to get out so bad.
I am so happy that Sasha did so well. I am not surprised. I no longer get surprised by her, she can go either way. Now I can just imagine Dave as giddy as a school girl with Sasha love.
Obviously Niko did a good job manipulating you all to give her attention (Dave!).
Kitty was fairly disappointed that they came back...she was giving us a look like Elijah was next to go.

No problem on taking the girls - they were absolutely great! I am still thrilled that Sasha hopped in the van for me. We really did miss you guys - Jazz gobbled her chicken feet so fast, I didn't have a chance to video - maybe I can do it today.

HI RACHAEL! I'm sorry to hear you're having a difficult recovery. We did miss you terribly at the meetup. You would have been so proud of Sasha!

Jazz had a chicken foot, huh? How did that go?

gobbled it down very quick - loved every moment of it!

Im too creeped out to even look at the pictures let alone touch one and give it to my dogs to devour. Im sure they would love it, but it might make me puke!

On the first one, Jazz took a few tentative licks and then took it and ran. By the time, I caught up to her, it was gone. 2nd time, it was just gone, no tentativeness at all.

lol! that happened the very first time we tried raw chicken, Tsuki booked it into the living room and I was like in slow-mo trying to get that chicken off my rug!! ew!

I'm glad she enjoyed it! It really helps her teeth, works her mind and is beneficial to her joints!!
