A human friend has the same enamel deficiency.. so she had trouble with tooth decay and also appearance. She ended up getting all her teeth sanded to points, and porcelain veneers put on to the tune of $20,000USD. Maybe something to consider?! ;) Kidding, of course.

We actually asked about porcelain veneers for him but the specialist said that they wouldn't work and would end up falling out. He said they just don't work well on dogs. :o\

Well, now that I think about it, that makes sense. The proceleins do chip and crack when you eat something you shouldn't. They're not built to gnaw on bones or toys or sticks, unfortunately. :(

thanks brad, we paid for the veneers done on mars teeth, but they used a resin of some sort rather than a porcelain, was suppost to be more hard wearing. cost alittle over 2000 pounds to have them all apart from the front tiny ones done, they looked pretty good but we had to avoid him chewing anything hard so no bones or hard treats, but they did seem to improve his quality of life. with him going to the bridge only 6 months after his final op i've no idea if they would have lasted any length of time, our vet was pretty sure they would last a fair number of years with him patching when and if they needed.
the lazer treatment sounds interesting it wasn't something we were offered, but it may well be something that isn't available over here in the uk.

Oh wow! What a handsome picture of our favorite Kitacow! You can see his "seriousness." ~

He looks like a tough guy. ha ha. Are his ears up always now?
  • edited November -1
Nope, his ears are still down - and always will be (we think). I guess the last few shots of him has been when he was moving so his ears appear to be up.

Our neighbors are doing some construction and all the contractors dogs come over to their house too, so they spend all day running around our property (outside the fence). Hilo, the Kita girls, and the Shikas have been very upset about it. So this is a shot of Hilo running over to give them a "talk'n to".

    Where is the shot?

Hilo seems to be the great protector of the pack.

One of the picture of the original Hachiko has ears like Hilo. Unless Hilo is being judged in a competitive circuit, that shouldn't be a problem :); right, Hilo?

That's a nice pic. We tend to always see the Happy Hug-me Hilo. (though I would love to hug him either way!)
