Going on a hiking trip!
Hey everyone, tomorrow me Kelly and a few friends are going on a nice and long hike. Kelly will get to play with a Golden Retriever and maybe another dog. Hopefully we'll be able to take some nice pictures for everyone.
This will be my first time hiking with her so I was wondering if anyone had any cool advice they would like to share.
List of things I am bring with me so far:
-Dog treats
-water bowl
-towels
-wound/medicine lotion
I have never been to this hiking trail but from what I have heard, there is a stream/river that flows along the hiking route. Kelly hates water so I doubt shes going to try to go in but there is a spot where the dogs always go swimming too!

I noticed you said you'd bring a water bowl, but also plan on bringing some bottles of water as well, for both yourself and your pups. And try as best you can to keep the pups from drinking any water that doesn't come from a bottle or faucet. You have no idea what could be in that water, or who else had drank it. Tetsu caught giardia from a lake, which is a parasite that can be transferred to humans and a pain to keep from catching again once they do get it.
I don't know if you read through it or not, but there is another thread that talks about going camping with the pups. Some things are very similar, so it is always good to check out.

Good luck, and don't frget to take lots and lots of pictures
Make sure you load up on flea/tick repellent. I read somewhere there are bug sprays for dogs... this might come in handy.. Oh, don't wear dark clothes... I accidentally wore a black athletic shirt when running the trail... It was a bad idea because the mosquitoes actually penetrated the porous clothing and I had about 20 different bite locations! It wasn't until a few years later that mosquitoes are attracted to darker clothes =/
