Spring Preening

edited March 2009 in Shiba Inu (柴犬)
Ah, spring - season of renewal, reawakening, and such, - can be felt on the breeze here in the Northeast. Even I, queen of "low maintinance" when I'm not performing, has gotten into the act. I've started a diet to attempt to purge my "winter pudge" (which is going well, actually) and have found a great personal trainer to work with - who has four feet, a curly tail, and works for home-made biscuits. Tosca has taken to her new hobby with plenty of gusto and seems to really enjoy the lengthened and additional walks as well as the increased availablity of baby carrots and Fruit-a-Bu.

There are, however, some elements of the human beauty ritual that I feel she will never understand. I gave myself a facial this evening and Tosca has been trying to lick off my spearmint-scented mud mask. She also doesn't get yoga or crunches .

Happy (soon-to-be) spring!

*Any ideas of stuff she and I could do in suburban CT that would be fun for her and help to slim me down are always appriciated. :)

Hahaha. I'll be working on getting rid of the pregnancy pudge through swimming in the apartment pool and DDR :P How about we get Tosca to learn how to dance to Butterfly ;)

OMG DDR! Yay! How about Sandstorm or Tsugaru? (DDR Max for PS2) Alas, we have no pool. That's probably not so bad considering I practically can't swim at all.

I only have DDR Supernova 2 atm :( Aww, having a pool is the only upside to renting lol.

Maybe look into doing agility training for both you and her? Would definitely be a workout.

agility is definitely a work out! But Tosca might have issue with other dogs in class, right?

Going for walks are always nice. My Aunt wanted to slim down and so she'd go for a walk three times a week and within a few months she lost 30 lbs. Or bike ride with your shiba on the leash with you.

About the bike riding, there is an article in Whole Dog Journal this month about it, and the dangers of it, and how to do it correctly. Check that out first!

I've lost 15lbs since walking our dogs religiously for 45mins-1hr twice a day!

I have to get back in shape. Cheerleading starts again soon and I have to get back in tumbling form before try outs in May...ugh...

Triton and I used to run 2 miles every day. After this last episode with this stage 1 luxating patella, the vet said no more running for him, just walks. So now he gets a 2 mile walk and I run after that.
