Nihon Ken Gallery!
Check out these great pics of Nihon Ken in Japan:

I really like the Shikoku with all the white on it's chest and face. I also like the sesame Shiba that looks like a Shikoku:

And any Shikoku owner knows exactly what is going on in these pics:

That Sesame Shiba is really stunning, wow, what a good looking dog. I'd love to go to that sometime, all those nice looking dogs.
I find it strange how few Akitas their are at the Nihon Ken meetings in Japan.
Now that i look at it again, most of those Shibas are pretty amazing, same with the Shikoku.
Yea, I think the Akita thing is kinda odd too. I guess maybe it's because of their size. (???) You don't see a lot of Hokkaido either.
Thanks! Those are great pics.
---> The Sesame Shiba is stunning <--- if I were to get a Shiba, I think I would go this color, but then people would see my Shikoku and look at my Shiba and call her/him a "mini-Shikoku", lol ---> or "Shikuku" in my case <--- is Shi-ko-ku really that difficult to pronounce???
"is Shi-ko-ku really that difficult to pronounce???"
Considering how many people ask me what Moto is, I say "a shiba inu" and in response I get "shi-BU i-nu?" I have had yo literally walk them through syllable by syllable, apparently the answer is yes, it is that difficult to pronounce. At least for the unwashed masses. But then again, it is apparently too difficult to look up a breed and make sure they will fit into your lifestyle before getting a dog.
Those pictures are absolutely awesome by the way!
I got it at animal control when I was rescuing piglet. They are proportioned like big dogs. It just kind of looks like someone shrunk a big dog.
(Moto is currently trying to steal the bone that piglet is chewing. Thank god I adopted the most patient and sweet pitbull who has ever lived)
My friends just say shibas "look like what happens when a fox and a teddy bear 'do it' "
hahahahaaaa....I love that way of putting it.
Sasha is learning to stand her ground with Niko a year later. I need to put up some video of Niko and Sasha going nuts over treats...below Niko's loud screams you can hear a low roar of Sasha.
