Yogi, Miki and Gufi Spam: Memory Walk and a Marriage

edited May 2009 in Shiba Inu (柴犬)
Thought I'd start a little thread where I can spam without having anything legitimate to update about. I've been stockpiling randoms of the dogs while I borrowed a friend's nice camera for a little project I was doing, and now that it's gone back home, I'm firmly set on getting one myself... eventually. Until then, I've got to settle on begging and borrowing.

Here are some to get started...

I gave all the pups messy bones. Here is Yogi's.

I was teasing him with it for a while

In case you ever needed to know what the inside of your dog's mouth looks like...

"What do you think you're doing, Mom? I was sort of busy with that."

We are sort of gate-crazy around this house. We're up to 3 now. These behind Miki are blocking off the doorways in the kitchen.

I had the family over for Mother's day for a grillout. The weather basically cooperated and we were spared from the rain. Thankfully, the dogs were all VERY well behaved as well, and aside from a little begging and one cookie stealing fiasco, I was very happy with them. Here is Gufi begging for chips from one of my cousins.

Here they are swarming another cousin. She was a trooper from the very beginning, and by the end of the day she had them following her around the whole yard and even had them doing tricks. I hired her as my dog walker.

I don't know if this makes me crazy or not, but Yogi lets me do this to him all the time. I only had the point-and-shoot at hand, and a pretty bad and uncooperative photographer, but I did manage to get the point across. He'd let me do it for hours, if I had the strength.

I also wanted to capture Yogi's funny old man face that he makes when he is scratching and, lucky me, got Gufi doing a very nice "come hither" look at the same time. Funny, these dogs...

That's a pretty decent start, I think!

Your dogs have the cutest freaking expressions ever! All of them are just adorable to look at!!!
And the pic with the swarm on your little cousin! so cute!!

Yogi - well, to keep a shiba still long enough to safely do stretching is an accomplishment!

Great shots...I love the one where you're holding Yogi by your feet, took me a minute to figure what you were doing

    Calia-
I don't remember why I started doing it... He is usually really interested when I do yoga or dance around, so I think maybe I tried to include him? He let's me do anything to him, dear little dummie :)

I was goofing around with the camera this morning, and I thought I'd snap a few as the dogs played around on the deck.

I always knew Miki was pretty, but lately I look at her and think she grew into a really nice looking little shiba.

They got a new "stuffed animal" that is supposed to be indestructible. Here is Yogi showing it off.

I was playing with action shots. Tried lots of stuff, it was fun to experiment. Gave the dogs something to do at least.

Very nice!!! I love all the action shots, too cute :o)

Awesome action shots. Katsu has that purple octopus. Indestructable? Yeah, not so much.
What kind of camera are you using? Your getting some really nice shots with it.

We wanted to go for the toy they tested on tigers but it wasn't in stock. I have a feeling they'd have destroyed that one too :)

I'm borrowing my friend's Nikon D40. I love it. I'm using it more and more frequently, and I'm looking into getting my own stuff eventually.

She hasn't ripped it in half or anything, but she started to chew the "indestructable double seems" apart. You should definitely get your own, or at least borrow your friends for an extended period of time because this spam is pretty awesome.

    Awesome action pics!

Miki has beautiful markings for that colour, very pretty all of the them.

Amazing action shots! I love seeing the sheebs in action. :)

Super action shots! I love your three shibas, they always make me smile, especially Yogi's little face! Love it!

And Miki is beautiful! I just noticed how 'adult' my female shiba has been looking (just turned two) and she's never looked more beautiful to me.

Thanks, Jen. Miki is right around that age too, so she should finally have her grownup looks.

Hey to all! Hope your summers are very relaxing and you are getting to spend as much time (or more!) with your pooches as I get to spend with mine. With all that quality time, and... my NEW CAMERA, Eeeek!... I have been snapping away like mad and thought I'd share photos from a particularly fruitful shoot. I couldn't have been blessed with a better day weather-wise, and the location was just wonderful. It's a place in town called Sunken Gardens and it is actually right at the intersection of 2 of the busiest streets in town, but it is a tiny little oasis of beauty, and it made a wonderful backdrop.

The dogs were such little models, and since it was nice and hot their panting faces made adorable shiba smiles :)

Yogi LOVED the koi ponds. He tried to attack every fish he could see.

Our friend Herbie was there too!

Also, since I am always the one behind the camera and don't think I've ever posted a picture of me, I figured I would include a photo that I just found of me and a friend at a local jazz festival that made the paper. Thought it was pretty cool! The dogs were -angels- and there were thousands of people and dozens of dogs to navigate.

    image

I have been hosting my family for pool and barbeque weekends. The dogs really enjoy the extra attention.
    image

And to finish up, for a few days Miki decided that the shower was the best place to nap, silly girl.

Thanks for wading through my spam! It's a nice rainy-day activity and I think I went overboard...

    Very cool pictures!
What a happy trio you have there!
  • edited November -1
What an interesting place for a snooze. It wouldn't matter if it was filled with kibble, Mylo would NEVER nap in the shower. hahahahaha.

    Great Pictures btw!

I love your pictures! I really got to get into photography!

Great pics...I really like the one of Yogi and the koi
  • edited November -1
Very nice! Imperssed with your yoga shot (I've never seen your thread/spam so sorry late on the Yoga comment). I second the Koi shot, that's actually very cute. I think it's time we upgraded to the D40 from the L3, esp since we want to get into agility training / courses soon. Excellent job on the pics and shibas!

Great pictures. I'm green with envy right now over you awesome pack.
  • edited November -1
Thanks for the nice comments, guys :) I wonder if I'm the only one that feels like they devote just a little too much time to fawning over their pups. Feel like I'm crazy dog lady sometimes.
  • edited November -1
Don't take this the wrong way. You probably are a crazy dog lady, but I mean that as a huge compliment. I've always liked dogs. Since we've got Katsu though I feel that Dawn and I are crazy dog people. Our life pretty much revolves around her now. I feel that being a crazy dog person is really the only way to go.
  • edited November -1
What camera did you end up getting?
  • edited November -1
Awesome Spam! The pack looks great, I love the Shiba smiles!

I actually talked my friend into selling me the Nikon D40 that I had been borrowing. Though it's a bit older, he had barely used it. He literally had the original memory card and every picture he'd ever taken on it- some 500 or so. Just borrowing it I put a few thousand more on there, and since I've purchased it I'd racked up even more. Totally just practicing still, but I've actually done 3 studio shoots (pinup-style with my cute and more daring girlfriends) and then the countless outdoors opportunities with dogs and family. I am -really- enjoying it, and I love learning on my own and also teaching myself a little bit of the editing side. So I guess all I can say it, expect more spams!

NICE!!! I think I want to steal Yogi, his expressions are priceless. I love his old man face.

Indestructible Octopus my ass. I knew he wouldn't last.

Even with a "tuff rating" of 7, you weren't strong enough for my brood. RIP Owen the Octopus, barely a month old and already totally gutted.
