First Snow Day!

edited December 2007 in General
Today was the first snow day for Taos (it snowed the other day but it was gone in an hour or so), and it was the first time Hilo, Ahi and Loa have seen snow. They LOVED it. I took some pics and some video...

Nice pictures.  We have a ton of snow right now.  Nemo just loves it.  We have been going to the dog park at night and it's been really nice.  No one else is there though.  Apparently walking around in 12 inches of snow when it's 20º out and dark, is not high on peoples lists of things to do.  Last night an owl joined us for awhile.

Once you get a fenced back yard and some snow, you wil surely see some crazy dog antics.

I guess with our 75 degree doesnt mean any snow anytime soon?  I love the pics.  I mentioned to Chad that in one of your pics you had snow and Chad of course wanted to know right away about the dogs.  I see 2 missing shiba's!

Im so glad you guys are happy!

Brandon - That sounds like fun to me! I can see how some people may not feel the same tho.

Rachael - We left Maui and Kaia at home because they were in trouble - Maui peed on my TV! AND Kaia peed next to his pee... so we cut them off from snow fun till later that day. Maui has been acting up really bad since the move, we have had to start crating him again.

He peed on your TV?! Oh God, Jay would have flipped. I don't know if you are as much of a gadget guy as Jay but his audio-visual equipment is one of his great loves, that and his studio.

I've read that shiba don't respond well to change.

I am a total gadget guy / gear head - luckily tho, we didn't move my nice TV to Taos, I gave it to my parents. We plan on buying a new one when we return from our snowboarding trip (we leave this Friday and will not be back till Jan). So the TV he peed on was an old Sony tube TV - but it was our only TV! Now we have none.

Yes, I think you are right tho - they don't do well with change.

I think that Chad would have eaten Maui for Dinner!  Did you know that there are DAP collars?  I wonder if that would help Maui so he has it on him 24/7.  Are you taking the pups on your trip?  Where are you going??

How did the shiba monsters like the snow later?

We are going to Snowmass for a week, then to Michigan to get Kona, then to ATL for x-mas with the fam., then back home to Taos. LONG trip! We are leaving our dogs at a boarding place here in Taos - it's REALLY nice - each kennel has a little outside area for the dogs and they get to run and play in a large fenced yard a few times a day. We didn't want to board them but since we are so new to town we didn't want to rush meeting people to stay at the house with them. We hate leaving them. :c(

The Shibas loved the snow too - they act really silly in it. The only issue is they have so much fun they don't go to the bathroom then they go in the house.

They will soon get the hang of it.  Does the place have camera's or send you updates?  Is that going to be the longest you will be away from the babies?  Are you going to have Kona here???  How long in atlanta?  if you have an hour let us know and we may be able to meet up.  If you can fit us in great or not we will understand.

    Love to the Anderson's!!

I want pics of Maui in the snow....did you lose him?

This will be the longest we are away from all of them at once. We where away from the Shibas for 2 weeks on our honeymoon.

We didn't lose Maui - I'll get some pics for you - it's a total white out right now, so there will be plenty of snow pics.

Are you driving around, or flying? It sounds like a great vacation. Another puppy for Christmas!! Are you getting him from Mijikai?

Yes, we are driving - we are crazy. I can't say I'm looking forward to the drive after driving here from ATL for the move. The drive from here to Aspen will be great tho.

We are getting the pup from Classy Kennel. I'm so stoked - I have waited for my male Kai Ken for a really long time.

Well if you have time on your way south to Atlanta (if you're taking 75) we live in the Dayton area - 75 goes right through. We'd love to meet you guys (and your puppy)! If you have less time we could meet closer to 75 (with Sora).

Hey that would be cool! The only issue is we are picking him up in the morning of the 23rd around 9am so it would probably be around 3pm before we made it to that area. I dunno if you guy will be around that close to the holidays - if you are let's make it a plan!

We will! We're probably going to leave for Detroit the 24th, but we might not go till the 26th - either way, we'll be in Dayton the 23rd. I'll send you an email with details.

Hurray for snow!  My pups love it, too.  Have a fun trip, even if you can't take all the pups along!

P.S. Brad, you sort of look like my brother-in-law, lol.

    I hope that's a good thing. Smile

People uses to tell me I look like Fred Durst. Undecided

Well, it might just be that you have the same beard and both like snowboarding, lol.  Noah says I think that everybody looks like everybody... if that makes sense. Tongue out

Well the snow is falling in the northeast. And I tell you, yankees sure as hell don't know how to drive in it! Jason and I went to a movie at one. Poked around the mall after, got in our car at 5. At 6:45 we had traveled less than 100 yards. I called my neighbor to let the pups out because they had already waited to long. At 7:05 we had traveled less than half a mile. We were only a mile and a half away in the first place. I got out and walked. It was way later than usual for the dogs to have dinner. It is 7:20, I am home. Jason finally pulled to the side of the road and walked too because it was so silly.

Piggy is delighted to stay inside. But I am going to go take Moto out to chase Jason and the snow blower.

    AAAHHH

AHHHH That is what I dont miss about the snow.  I love Minnesota but I think that the south is penetrating my blood!  I talked to my mom the other day and she had to get up to go the airport early in Wisconsin and told me it was -26 but that it wasnt that bad cause there was no wind.  It has been close to 80 here!
