Taos Hum? not dog related :)
Brad,
Ok so I'm at work today and I turn around to my wise old co-worker and say "Hey Sharon, have you ever been to Taos, New Mexico? " She says, "Oh yeah, it's beautiful there!!" I'm like "Yeah I think I want to move there after seeing pictures of the town, it looks so serene."(will never happen btw, I'll probably never get the guts to move from Michigan, and you can't sell a house in Michigan's economy to save your life!)
She says to me "Yeah, but you have to be careful, you'll go crazy from the Taos Hum", half jokingly. Another co-worker strategically interjects "Oh yeah, I saw something on TV about that, this humming sound you can hear in that area that people can faintly hear all the time." So I'm all interested and asking them what do you mean humming?!! Sharon proceeds to print out some 70 page blog from god knows where.com with all these people posting about hearing the hum, and how they wake up at 3am and walk outside to see which direction it's coming from. It stops sometimes, or will get louder, and people say it sounds like a train, or a semi truck parked at a neighbors house. I've been reading this blog print out and it sounds pretty interesting. Have you ever heard about this?!!

LOL! I am not sure if I have hear it yet... I asked our real-estate agent when we purchased the house about it and she laughed in my face (I had already asked her about aliens because she used to live in Roswell). She said "You just want to know about aliens!" - but she never answered my question.
So Friday we were at a party here in town and asked some people, they all looked at us cross-eyed and said "No, I have not heard it". Tho this one guy that grew up here (very few people here are from Taos, most are from Austin, NY, or California) - he said he had friends that claimed they heard it.
It's odd you bring it up tho - last night Jen and I heard the oddest noise outside. All the dogs in the area where barking, it was very faint, but it was there... Hilo barked a few time at it, but our other dogs didn't seem effected by it. It's kinda creepy.
Also one night in the middle of the night Kaia just started freaking out, running around barking like she couldn't figure out what direction to bark - I came down to see what was going on, and it was pitch black except the moon light just flooding into the house... it was super creepy - but I didn't hear anything that night.
One thing to keep in mind is that Los Alamos is not too far from Taos - and at one point they did a lot of nuclear testing close to the four corner area in New Mexico (west of Taos)... some people think it's related to that. If you ask anyone out here, that lives out where we do (15 miles from town), they all can report seeing strange things in the sky at night (the view of the milky way is incredible from our place).
I'll let you know if I hear it tho - I read all about it before I we moved... kinda creeps me out. :c)
On the going crazy note tho - if you talk to anyone in this town you can tell they are pretty close to being crazy (if they aren't already).
Crazy huh? You are going to fit right in! I do have to say I think Brad, you are the biggest dork next to my husband...Aliens??
Are you going to be glowing the next time we see you?
Our dogs are amazing watch dogs too - and don't bark to often - tho Ahi does bark more than the others. The problem for us is they all alert us for different reasons - Ahi will bark at intruders or trespassers (animal or humans), Hilo will bark at strange things (from his perspective) like horses riding through the yard and objects that he feels shouldn't be where they are as well as intruders (animals or humans). Kaia will bark at random things she doesn't understand - like an odd shadow or figure, or something moving in the wind that she has never seen move before, Maui will bark at only things that he feels are truly out of the ordinary, but not strangers. Maui is not a very good watch dog. The only thing he has ever really warned us about is the screen saver that used to come up on my TV when it was idle - he hated that thing.
So, at night, if Ahi or Hilo where to bark I would be freaked - but if Kaia barked I would probably blow it, since she barks at things that are generally not important to us humans. Ahi has two different barks - one is a frustrated "I want that" bark, which is the majority of her "warning barks", and then the other is the "hey, something is going on that is not right" - those are the barks I freak out about.
I think Hilo is still learning the art of being a watchdog.

Anyway - the sound was like a low rumble sound that sounded like it moved around us... but it went away when we came inside. That makes me think it's not the "Taos Humm" because most people say you can hear it louder inside opposed to outside.
You mean you do not know what it is ? Wow, I thought everyone knew here in New Mexico.
It is just a tunnel that is being constructed by the Gov't. It reaches several miles underground and is designed to hold about 3 million people.
Eventually I suppose everyone will want a ticket to the Grand Opening, but only those select important types will be allowed in when the time is right. The rest of us will be left topside for the show. Nibiru is returning!

lol
Hi again,
Wow, just after jotting that comment above down I crashed my computer. I just now got back online. I had to buy a new Dell.
I was refering to Nibiru or Planet X. You know, the big brown dwarf that is part of our solar system, the one that is on its way back home to rendezvous with its sister our sun. There is a great assortment of NIbiru/Planet X/2012 stuff on the net these days.
At any rate, I get the hum in my head too. For a long time I used to accredit the high altitude and seasons, but to be honest I never have noticed a pattern. I also get vertigo here in New Mexico. I really hate that part. Some have said it is Meneire's Disease, and others have said Eustacian Tube Dysfunction. It comes and goes without rhyme or reason.
I am glad to be back online again, I do hope I have not alarmed anyone with all that Doomsday talk. I promise to go visit more Shiba referenced material and post over there instead until I am a more "known" entity. This way you know my craziness is actually normal <smile>.
Huggs to all, Ron
Hi Ron - wow, glad you are back... that sux about your PC crashing!
