Just saw this on TV. I can't stop cussing in my head, and I actually let out a few already.

Who the h#ll gives a 1 week puppy to a 4 year old??? Fu%&!ng morons!

Wow, that's some great parenting there...Well at least the pup seems to be ok.

What a stupid family!!! Dont people teach their children to stay out of the toilet?! Why did he think the toilet was a good place to take a bath?! Why did this kid believe it was ok to touch such a young puppy? Do people discipline kids any more, or is it just ok to let them grow up being dumb. I would think the first two things a kid id taught not to pay around are 1 the stove, and 2 the toilet...but no "intentions were good", my a$$.

This little girl is going to grow up to tape shibas to fridges. Even if she didn't know any better, that doesn't mean you shouldn't teach her it was wrong. What ever happened to electro shock therapy?

Um...I think the kid that flushed the pup is a boy, something about the kid being called Daniel.

Boy, Girl it doesn't matter. Somebody needs to be beaten with a wooden spoon.

Kids make mistakes. Serious ones like this should be corrected.

Seeing as all I know is what's in this short video clip, I won't jump on the parents or the kid.

Just happy to hear that the mom's quick reaction led to the pups rescue.

Hah, I reacted similarly when I saw this story this morning getting ready for work.
I don't think my sleeping brother appreciated my shouting at the television.

It was heart-warming to see the effort that the family, firefighters, and plumber gave to save the little guy though.

And I thought flushing my cell phone down the toilet was bad...

I wasn't sure whatto expect from this, eeps.

Reguardless of intentions...sometimes kids just don't think.
I teach kids to always, always, always ASK FIRST before doing anything.
Hopefully, his mum corrected this behavior.

Thank goodness the pup is still alive and well.

I know of a similar story that involved some little kids, a cooler filled with water and a kitten. I think they wanted to give kitty a bath, but...it didn't end in the kit's favor. And to think their parents got them another kitten after that. Things like this make me extremely furious!!! These are lives that are being gambled with, not toys but a being of life.

I remeber the story of the old woman who decided to dry her poodle in the cloth dryer...That poor poodle came out crispy

UUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH. I hope that kid gets made fun of for that when he's older.

What I'd like to know is, where the hell is the mother of the puppy? I hope they hadn't just brought the puppy home at 2 weeks old. And god help us if these people are breeding dogs...

I read that this morning and I was wondering who bathes a dog when it's 1 week old, who bathes a dog in the toilet, who "accidentally" flushes the toilet with the dog in it, and why was a child left with a 1 week old dog, much less ANY dog?

Honestly, I think a lot of you are overreacting. This child is 4 freaking years old. Do you expect a parent to sit on their ass and keep an eye on their kids 24/7? Shit happens and they're like freaking shibas, even if you think you child-proofed something they will prove you wrong. Kids get into stuff and they don't think the same as adults do. Sure, the mother could have done a better job at protecting the pup but to call the child a future animal abuser or to wish the kid to get made fun of is just ugh...pisses me off.

This was an epic parental failure, a 4-year old should not have been left alone with a week old puppy. Too bad nobody came and confiscated him and he is not "a lucky little dog" if he is still staying with that family.

Wow...this wasn't exactly where I thought this thread would head (puppy lived through the ordeal, yay, happy ending!). Will a moderator please close/sink this discussion because I think it has run way past its course.

    Thanks,
    Jesse

Please keep the tone of your comments friendly and constructive. I understand this is a rough subject as we all are incredibly passionate about dogs, and children, but there is no reason to make this thread hostile. Thank you.

As I understood the reporting I heard on the news - the kids were being supervised, but what mother can watch 3 boys and a litter of one week old pups all at the same time. As soon as she heard the toilet flush she ran!

Apparently the pup got dirty and the, I believe 4 or 5 year old was giving him a bath in the toilet. BIG Whoops!
He now understands that toilets are not good places to bath puppies. I'm uber relieved the pup made it out alive.

    [thread to 'sink' by request]

You can still place a comment on a sinking thread, I thought sink meant no more comments as well?

Ah, I get the idea, no matter what happens it still goes down

I'm just passionate about not passing judgment so quickly when you don't know the whole story.

Having been the first one to post a reply, I think I might have steered the general tone of the thread this way.
I'm sorry for that, I should have been more tactful about my opinion.
