A Happy Ending

edited September 2009 in Shiba Inu (柴犬)
My brother, who breeds Shibas, received a phone call recently. A lady who lives in a town south of us had found an older, semi-blind female Shiba wandering loose in traffic. The poor girl was covered with fleas. So the lady took her to a vet and had her scanned. The chip came up with my brother's name. The owners had never bothered to reregister the chip! My brother looked thru his files and tried to find the owners based on what he had. No luck. He got back in touch with lady who had found "Ruby" wandering loose. She will keep Ruby and Ruby will live out however long she has with this kind woman. Ruby is 14 years old. She is in fairly good condition for her age; recognizes people by smell. My brother will be sending old photos and info about Ruby to her new owner.

Wow, that's a breeder's (one of many) worst nightmares. Glad she is safe.
