No longer president of the akita breed club

edited October 2009 in Akita (秋田犬)
As some of you probably know I have been the president of the “Akita Inu Society” (the Swedish national akita breed club) called AIS. For you who don’t know I can tell you that I became the president of AIS in March this year. It didn't work as I hoped so now I have left the board. If you're interested you can read more about it in my little blog (yes it's in english :)

Social/recreation/hobby clubs are difficult. I have been an officer of a couple different recreation clubs in my area and participation is always a major issue. You'll get a lot of people that talk about how they want to do this or that but no commitment. And many other issues. Most times I find it's easier to just have a few friends to share interests with then to get involved in clubs. Not sure if it is the same there as it is here though.

Kati: I think it's exactly the same here! At lease after reading what you wrote. Iv'e been the president of one of the national sailing associations here in sweden too. It was almost the same there too even though the sailing people could separate "things" and "persons" so to speak, if you know what I mean with that.

The first 4 months was good, everybody worked just fine but, as I worte, after June it was like everbody died...

It's too bad that things are always like that. People are so excited when the club is first starting off but it seems people get bored or busy so quickly. It's always too much work or they have something else to do. It's funny, one club that I was in had a message board and people were far more active there then going to events! We were supposed to be an outdoors club but everyone is always in on the internet! lol

hahaha... well here it's been slightly different. We live all across the country (yes I know, Sweden isn't that big) so it's not that easy to meat in person every time. I tried to arrange a meeting anyway but no response at all. When I told them I wasn't gonna stay more than this year they started to say that it was so boring because we didn't meet IRL any more...?!?!?!

We have a saying, 95% of the work is done by 5% of the people. :-/

Ann: That's probably pretty close to the truth.
