Dog beds.....what does every one think?
I have gone through quite a few dog beds and the other day, my wife comes home with two dog beds to replace the ones Sammi and Taro tore apart. Well now Taro is being a little devil and he has already tore through these two new beds.
What does every one recommend for a durable outdoor dog bed that wont break my wallet. I'm tired of cleaning torn bed foam and bed covers. I been thinking of sewing a couple of old towels together to make some beds but I think they need some thing softer.
Help please!!

how have they gone over for those of you that have them?
More related to the original question, when my dogs were young I simply couldn't keep a dog bed for them....they always tore them up. I gave up (the GSD had a thrift-store blanket to sleep on and the Shibas had my furniture!) until they got older and weren't so destructive. But that is obviously not a solution!)
And a further digression: my male Shiba is afraid of very little, but he has a deep abiding fear of sheepskin coats or anything that looks like that. who knows why. Anyway, earlier this year I decided to get a sheepskin for the GSD to sleep on....he was old, and arthritic and the Shibas always laid on his bed, and he needed his own place. So I got one. And Toby, my male Shiba, was TERRIFIED of it. I took it out of the box; he ran away and barked and barked. He wouldn't come into the living room. He'd approach stiff legged, and if anyone anywhere in the house moved, he ran, staring at the sheepskin suspiciously. I have to admit it was pretty funny, and the other dogs just settled down on it like, what the hell?
He's now used to it, but he does like to pounce on it occasionally and grab it and shake it while looking at me, like hey, see? I'm SO BRAVE!
eta: forgot to say one of my other "easy" beds was an old bed pillow with a a blanket wrapped around it (or once, when I got fancy, I sewed up a cover) This way, if they destroy it, I don't care, because it was so cheap to make. Of course, it only works for certain sized-dogs.
eta2: shoot, didn't see that originally you'd asked about OUTDOOR dog beds. Ok, my solutions were not good for that. Sorry!
I'm looking at either getting the individule beds from kuranda or getting the bunk beds. I think Taro might like sleeping on top since he likes to be up high.
Thanks for all the quick answers every one!
I have had my Kurandas for about 2 years and they are still going strong. Eventually I will order the cat tower to for my kitties. But those are pricey!
However... They will only love them if they have some sort of cover on them... Bella has her favourite blanket that her grandmother made her, and Nola has one of the Kuranda covers on hers. Both are washable and make it just cozy enough for them to stay off my bed at night!!!! lol.
And Jessica is right, they literally can not be destroyed. Before the Kuranda beds, Nola destroyed EVERY SINGLE BED she had. In a matter of minutes. But the Kuranda bed is indestructible. The cover is pretty tough too.
Jess recommended we cover them with something, and she was right, a few of our dogs wouldn't lay on them until we put a blanket or something on them. We ordered the bedding/covers they sell that attach to the beds and so far the dogs LOVE those.
We also have the bunk bed, its works ok - the Kai really like it.
Ahi will even sleep on these beds, that is a big deal, she NEVER sleeps on dogs beds (she prefers the ground).

That is the only thing that bothered me about the covers... Nola chewed through the elastic bands pretty quickly... However, I fixed her fascination with it by zip tying the covers to the bed.
Now I have Snoozzy's for both of the dogs. Maymay tore through the thick ones with padding, but she hasn't touched her Snoozzy for some reason.
Here's a pic.
i sleep on a tempurpedic and i love it so perhaps the dogs would enjoy sleeping on one as well?
not sure which is more suitable between the deep dish and the dream lounger version.

The dog houses, if we use them, get filled with blankets or comforters that I find on sale. One solution to the outside dog bed problem might be to build plywood platforms and cover them w/ area rugs that can be washed or removed with ease. You can always do multiple layers of rugs. (Or you might want to get rug remnants from carpet stores.)
i never let the dogs use the human furniture so id like to get them something nice to use.
those outdoor kuranda beds are nice as well.
But dang, tempurpedic DOG beds? Heck, I'd buy one for myself and just let the dog sleep on the bed with me! I also really like those kuranda beds. I wonder if I can make one of those as well...
@Losech - You can definitely make a kuranda-type bed out of pvc pipes. Or wood, whatever you like to work with.
Large rectangle 43" x 29"
the smaller size would be Medium rectangle 36" x 24" and there is also X-large rectangle 53" x 35.
these are all outside dimensions.
My two are very good with stuffed dog beds and don't chew them. They actually both like dog beds a lot, and choose them more often over the floor. I don't allow them on the furniture.
They seem to really like the donut beds, more so that the ones without a bolster.
And just because it is cute, Kuma and Sachi when she was a pup. Still have this bed 2 years later and still looks good
