Raw Foods
What kind of raw food do you guys suggest. I was at albertsons and I saw Beef Rib Bones that was like 2.00 for 4 pieces. I think the brand was Quality Promise. Its the same brand of meat I get for steaks. So I was just wondering if it is good or not. And what are you supposed to look for on the label of raw food to know whether its good or not?

There are a lot of different types of prepared RAW foods, but you don't have to buy RAW food that are made for dogs. Most raw meats are fine for dogs - we have fed our dogs raw rabbit, chicken, turkey, cow, lamb, elk, bison, kangaroo, duck and a lot more... all just purchased from the same area we purchase our foods. We fed the rabbit, chicken, turkey, and some lamb with the bone - our Shibas (and others) eat the bone and meat with no problems. Maui freaking loves eating bone.
As for prepared raw food diets we have fed Honest Kitchen, Primal, Prairie, Addiction, Northwest Naturals, & Blue ridge beef.
Never feed cooked bone, only RAW!
You can feed raw bones because they are not brittle and do not splinter. I'm not sure if a Shiba could make it through a raw beef rib, maybe they could. Raw chicken bones are no problem though. They like the marrow in the middle, and the nutrients in the bone are good for them.
If it's rated for humans to eat (USDA approval) then it is good for your pet too. A lot of dog food companies do not use USDA approved meats because of the extra costs involved in getting something apporved by the USDA, and keeping a USDA inspector on site. It doesn't mean that they are not careful with the meat.
