Kai owners - what size wire crate do you use?

For Mei, 40 pds, I have a 36 inch crate. Koda, 55 pds, has a 42 inch crate.
  • I just got the 36 inch crate the other day (yay for amazon prime lol) and it looks huge! Could probably fit a grown male Kai :]
  • Kaiya, 30 pounds, has a 36" crate.
  • I'm actually thinking of moving Mei up to a 42" crate. She has Koda's old one, but I like to give them a bit of room. I wouldn't go smaller for Koda. He fits snug in a 42" one.
  • We have 36" crates for the adults and 30" for the young adults. For pups we use 24" crates. Akashi, at 4 months, just moved out of his 24" and is in a 30". Kona fits fine in a 36", but he does prefer the larger size crates (42" and up).

  • Okay, I ordered the 36". I have smaller, shiba-sized ones until Sosuke gets bigger. My dogs have never spent long periods of time in their crates, so I won't worry about the extra space that a 42" would give.

    Off to make doggie beds!
  • Heidi, you're "nesting!" :)
  • Big time! :-)
  • Tora stated in an 24 and has moved up to a 42 at home. When we travel for shows she has a 36 mainly because I do not want to lug the 42 around. My problem newest problem is she has now figured out how to open her current crate.
  • Yay, I have a 36" for Eowyn (her puppy crate) and I'm glad to hear that one will fit my future kai. No need to sell it then ;)
    I have a 48" for Eowyn when she's grown...
