We met a female Akita Inu today!

edited February 2008 in Akita (秋田犬)

Jen and I were out walking around in town today and we saw the cutest Akita Inu girl sitting outside a shop waiting for her dad. She was a bit shy at first but then warmed up to us, when her dad came out she was very sweet and out going.

She was smaller, like 60lb or so and red. She was a darker red than Hilo (Hilo is kinda washed out) and she had a very dark undercoat.

Her dad said she was from a breeder in the mountains by Angel Fire, NM (about 45 minutes from Taos) - small world!

Anyway, its so rare you see an Akita Inu, we were just totally stoked! Smile

Yea, I looked too and didn't find the one this guy was talking about, well at least I think that's the case. Those took look to breed more to a AA standard not a JA standard (those there officially is not a difference I think you know what I mean).

Also those two breeders are close to Albuquerque, the guy we met said the breeder of his Akita was from the Canyon area, which is by Angle Fire.

That's funny tho, Jen and I searched and searched and could only find those two breeders in NM, and if you found the Sun Run Kennel then you where probably looking in the same places as us.  Thanx! Smile
