  • Awesome! I'm sorry I been lagging on this. We had a close call this morning but not yet, kid is really making Ami miserable...
  • Is it that time already? Time really flew by.
  • I would be glad to go, problem is I live in Miami! :(
  • I think you have your priorities correct, Gen. No worries!
  • wow id like to participate in this!
how old does a dog have to be before he can begin some sort of training for hunting boar?
  • I'm interested in this! My boyfriend and I would have to check our schedules. If we are able to go we would watch and bring my shiba Kiyo along too.
  • It looks like it maybe limited to those who are willing to actually pay for a hunt. I spoke to the operator today and he said he can't have too many people hanging out just to watch.
  • how old does the dog have to be in order to attempt this?

also can we go on a real boar hunt after? hehehe

  • please send me the details as well
  • I'll pay if I can come. Still working on that.
  • Oh ok. Then maybe next time. I'll just follow the post. ^-^ hope to see pics and videos of the training!
  • Will this be happening in 2011, or do you think it will be early 2012?
  • Gen ( @shishiinu ), with your crazy work schedule...what are our options as to possible days?
  • Well I could probably pull off multiple days or weekends. Once the pups are born and my background investigation is done (around February?) I will be good to go. Since there more then a couple of people interested, I will set up multiple days to fit with every ones schedule.
  • Sounds great! :o)
  • Let me know if you need someone to come socialize with the pups ;)
  • It's looking like I will be able to make it. :o)
  • How about I send one to you Julie!
  • @hondru - if u end up going will u be bringing S? :)

Gen I would love one but gotta save room for another kai :)
  • Ok so some of you might already know but I ran into a snag. The ranch owner now has a new policy that all dogs must be leashed. This defeats the purpose of training pig dogs. Supposedly two groups were on the property and one group had a dog which ended up nipping or biting some one from the other group. Soooooo now they had to completely change their rules for dogs. This really blows since A) I live in Cali where it's almost possible to find a place that allows dogs to hunt hogs on private property and B) almost every where else requires a hunting license because there aren't too many high fenced operation.

My next thing is I'm going to go trolling for places that will allow a group of us to hunt. So by show of hands who would be willing to get hunting licenses to do this? Or we can have a meet in Texas and spend a few days hunting with our dogs...
  • Would our group be hunting with another unrelated group? If no, maybe we can sign waivers of liability absolving the owner of responsibility if our dogs went after each other? If we are hunting with another group, then yeah...I can see why the ranch owner would be wary.

So does that mean the 6th is off?

how would it work for people from other countries? i already have a hunting licence here, would i still have to take some sort of course in the US in order to hunt there as well?
