My MIL left over a month ago and I'm still finding her GSD's fur everywhere! Even in rooms she was never in >.< Please tell me kais don't shed as much on a regular basis.
Ha ha ha ha no not normally. Although with Koda being inside for the past 6 weeks, he constantly sheds. If you get them out right when it heats up, they will shed quickly. Then they will shed again in December.
My house is probably like yours right now though. I vacuum every other day.
Can't speak to the Kai Ken, but my GSD sure did shed a lot....he didn't really blow his coat per se like the NKs do, but he seemed to be constantly shedding. Well, there was a once a year more heavy duty shed, but mostly it was all year around. Truthfully, though, I don't find less hair now that he's gone.....because now it's the two Shibas and the Akita, and they seem to coordinate their coat blowing so one is always doing it!
I think the Akitas win the NK shedding game simply based on sheer size too: there is more of them to lose hair from! I don't know if JAs coat is at all different than AAs or if it is an individual dog sort of thing, but I know that Oskar's hair is significantly longer than the Shibas hair. It's almost 2 inches long, so in addition to his sheer size, and his undercoat, he's just got longer hair.
Imagine what a long coat Akita must be like! Probably not as bad as CO though!
My favorite shedding moment was at the dog park. My girl was wet from swimming and ran far away to a pair of young girls and rolled over to get her tummy rubbed. I watched from afar as the girls started petting her and then they both yanked their hands away and looked at each other and panicked because their hands were covered in wet, stuck-on undercoat. My dog was pretty pleased with herself, it seemed
OMG That's so funny McYogi! When Saya blows her coat and after swimming in the lake or pond her blowing gets worse and it sticks everything that touches her.. lol
