Once you've selected a good quality
dog food, that's all you need, right?

Once you have selected a quality dog food, that’s all you need to feed, right? Despite what many dog food companies tell you, we are starting to find out that may not be the case.

It seems intuitive that dogs weren’t intended to get all of their nutrients from a single food. Just like all mammals, dogs are meant to thrive on a range of different foods obtaining the unique nutritional benefits from each.

Rotating your pet’s diet provides a lot of benefits including a broader spectrum of nutrients and prevention of mealtime boredom. It can also help avoid the development of allergies.

Here is a great video we found from well-respected veterinarian Karen Becker that discusses how feeding one diet day in and day out can lead to allergies.

  • I forgot to mention shipping fees are 9.99
  • I seen this before when looking up kibble. I never tried it before though. Are you going to try it?

I kinda do it with Bella my parent's boxer I rotate between Wellness core ocean, Totw duck, Totw lamb, and totw bison/deer.

Bella also gets raw treats here and there.

Rotation is a good thing. I wonder how other dog owners like this kibble..
  • Bea is extremely picky about her kibble so I am going to give it a try. Hey, $10 for 15 lbs is not too bad. I like to rotate her kibble...as she eats raw four days and loves that...so she gets huffy on days when she goes back on kibble.

I gotta say... it does bother me when a dog food labels itself as a "Wild Salmon" recipe, for example, but then includes entirely different proteins like turkey meal and chicken fat in its list of ingredients. Wouldn't bug me as much if they at least stayed with other fish or within protein families. Unfortunately, there's chicken fat in all three recipes, and we stay away from ALL processed chicken and beef, as well as grains here, so we'll be skipping on this.

Always on the lookout for savings and deals on good quality food though, so I do appreciate that you passed along this info!
  • My shiba has a chicken allergy so unfortunatley, chicken fat disqualifies this for us:-(

  • I don't really understand this food. Do they change formulas from bag to bag? Or do they have different formulas? Either way I don't see how you could get away with not doing a transition. My understanding is that if the ingredients are different, it could cause stomach upset.

Also sucks that all their foods contain chicken products.
  • Hmmm...I didn't notice the chicken fat in the products. Bea is not allergic to chicken so I didn't notice it. Sorry guys!!!
  • Yeah too bad. :( Saya does fine with chicken raw or cooked, but too bad for ones who are allergic to it. :\
