I haven't shared any new Kishin pics with the forum in awhile, so here are some I've taken since our move to Flagstaff...
Kishin continues to mature into a wonderful dog, he's good with our other dogs - playful and generally forgiving. I'm really pleased with his temperament too, he can go anywhere with us, he is not quick to bark at people or other dogs, and he is generally an easy going guy. He's got good judgment (as long as he is not pissed off).
I really like him, like if I knew for sure every Kishu was just like Kishin I would change breeds...
He is really really handsome! I especially love the 3rd pic, I remember he has the same pose when he was a pup! Oh yea, the last few pics really show off his muscularity!!
That's awesome, he is such a stud! I was looking at some old kishu photos and he has a lot of resemblance to some of the famous kishu from the 30s and 40s. He really has that shishi inu (boar dog) structure. My friend who gave Shigeru and I our pups really is impressed with Taro and Yuki's pups.
His characteristics that you describe actually represent a true Kishu. It's said that a kishu that randomly barks, bites, and over react is not a true kishu. With Taro and Yuki, they are friendly with strangers (taro has to get to know strangers first), doesn't bark randomly (some times a little reactive toward strange dogs, mostly calm. So kishin really got all the good qualities from his parents although much of that is from Brad and Jenn's work.
@Brad - Yes, let me take the pics from the books with my cell and load them up. Might take a little due to crazy kids running around everywhere right now.
By the way thanks for the compliments! I really didn't do anything special. Yuki was a good mama and having the kids around to help and the other dogs helping with giving them attention worked really great. Sammi did a great job as the enforcer and Taro dd his part as a dad with keeping them in line.
It was interesting cause we also just had Yuji at the time and so we had double baby duties. Good times.
@shishiinu - Thanks! Yea, he does look like Kishin. I showed to Jen and she said "oh, Kishin!" ... Kishin will probably look even more like him as he matures and his head fills out.

LoL, Gen I wouldn't sell yourself short, you and your family gave those pups a great start.
Are you able to post those pics of Kishu from the 40s and 30s? I'd love to see them.
