cross country

edited March 2008 in General

Hi Brad,

we're going to be driving from Ohio to CA starting the 23rd (of this month!). The plan is to go through Colorado Springs, then south. If you guys are available, we could make a stop in Taos, we'd love to see you guys! We'll have  Sora, Tag, and Hannah (the bird) with us. I'm not positive yet what our day-to-day stops will be, probably will know better next week.

That would be GREAT! We will be here and would love to see you. The only (small) issue is we have no fence right now, so the dogs will be all up in your faces. Also my parents are supposed to be here that week, but they will be staying in Taos Ski Valley and will not be here (at the house) so that should not even matter. We have a fold out mattress thing if you guys need a place to crash... or we can suggest a hotel, if you plan to stay in Taos. Taos may be a bit out of your way, but the drive down from CO is really nice... here is our address:

    221 Tune Drive

    Taos, NM 87571

It may not come up on Google, so you can use this intersection:

Tune Drive & US 64... actually, I will just past the link for you:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=US-64+%26+Tune+Dr,+Taos,+Taos,+New+Mexico+87571,+United+States&sll=36.4926,-105.6838&sspn=0.093153,0.173721&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=0,36.465680,-105.669760&z=16

    My cell is: 404.786.4710

Let us know if you guys can make it - that would be really cool!

Then we'll definitely plan on it. We would probably be out there Wed or Thursday (it depends on if we stop in Kansas on the way to Colorado Springs, or if we drive straight through to CO. We aren't really in a hurry to get out to CA, we have until the 31st to get there, so timewise we're flexible.

    That sounds great!

I did just think of something, this town will be crawling with sprinbreakers that week, so if you plan to stay in Taos you may want to go ahead and book a room.

Keep us posted on your plans, bu we are pretty flexible.

    See you guys soon!

So i think our plan is to get to Taos Thursday, stop in for a while, then continue to AZ. We'll be coming from Colorado Springs...so I guess we'd get there around lunchtime (maybe earlier). We'll have the 2 dogs, a bird, and our fun Uhaul trailer. WooHoo. We're in Kingdom City MO tonight, and we'll be staying in CO springs 2 nights. That work?

Yea, that works great! We will be here... I am not sure how we will handle all the dogs but we can figure it out, maybe just put Ahi outside on a leash since she will be the crazy one. When you get to the Taos area just give us a call. Here is our home phone too in case you don't get me on my cell: 575.650.8507 (its a cell phone too).

We live 2 miles off a bumpy dirt road - just wanted to prepare you.

    See you soon, drive safe!

We are pulling a uhaul trailer with my santa fe, I don't know how it will do on a bumpy road. We'll take it very slow, but we may end up walking out there ;-).

Oh, well give me a call if you are concerned and we will pick you up. There is space to park it at the start of the road. I mean really, it is a very bumpy road... we had a pretty harsh winter and it totally killed the road. You don't need 4wd or anything, but it's not a smooth road by any means... so just call us and we will pick you up.

I think that would work better - we had trouble today with a bump at the motel parking lot (btw staying in motels with dogs....sooooo much fun - never had the pleasure of this experience before. I grew up with a motorhome, so we always had the dogs in that). But ya - we'll call you when we get to a parking spot.

lol! Oh my, motels and dogs suck so bad. Are they barking at everything all night? Ours did... gosh it sucked. Good luck with that! Wink

Give us a call when you are parked - see you soon! Drive safe!

So Jen and I were talking and a good place to park would probably be at the Rio Grand Gorge Rest Area off 64. It is just past our road (Tune Drive), about two miles. You will see it just after you cross over the gorge (can't really miss the gorge). You can park there and give us a call and we will come get you.

    How doe that sound?

Sounds good. We'll probably walk the dogs before we call you. We walked the dogs at Garden of the Gods today - they are totally pooped! Too bad it won't last till tomorrow.

Thanks for having us over! It was so great to get to meet all your dogs! It's a beautiful area, and a lovely house, you guys have a pretty good thing going there. Thanks again, and if you ever want to get out to the santa barbara/santa maria area, give us a call!

Hey! You beat me, I was just gonna thank you guys too. :c)

Thanx for stopping by, I know it was a bit out of the way, so we appreciate it. It was great seeing you guys (and the pups). We really enjoyed it.

We were just talking about how we have never been to Santa Barbara, so we may take you up on that offer. Thanx!
