This is when I brought him to his new home. Thankfully the Irish weather stayed great and he was able to sniff around and explore the surroundings
Him being lazy ... loves his midday snooze
4.5 months:
His coat began to change a bit here. It got darker and the guard hairs were getting longer. Beginning to get that akita inu look with the spiky hair around the neck area.
Brought him to the beach and he ended up digging a 2 foot deep hole in less than a minute..got his face covered with sand.
Got him a deer antler and has been his fave chew toy/treat for a while. even though he still gets bored of it easily.
hope u all enjoy.. more to come !!

@jellyfart, i got him from a breeder in wales, United Kingdom. They imported a white male from France and bred him with one of their blue brindles and K'Umon was one of the 2 pups that was born.. Had to wait nearly 2 yrs for him but definitely well worth it. His coat has changed a lot since his younger puppy stage..he is kinda getting a bit more ginger. I must say Toki is absolutely stunning too! By the way, at what age did Toki starting going into the lanky phase? K'Umon is still kinda broad looking even at 10 months...Cant wait for him to turn lanky like most akita inus - i think they really stand out at that stage.
It's interesting to watch him grow. He was born a stocky little puppy, built like a friggen bulldog, good rear. Then around 4-5ish months...his legs became super cow hocky. I swear they almost touched. Then one day around 9-10ish months, i noticed they were straight. Like magic.
With the exercise we've been doing lately, his legs have improved more too. Did you ever have an issue like this? (it could just be Toki's linage)

From my experience, K'Umon became stocky around 5/6 months..neck became broader and his chest much fuller. Comparing to other akitas i have seen i still think his legs are a bit short ... maybe next month he will magically get those straight legs like Toki too ;-) From a side view he looks very stocky and has a nice stance but still prefer if he was just a nit lankier around the legs.. but just a little bit.
I have avoided doing any vigorous exercise like running with him as im waiting for his bones to fully develop first..but we do go for light jogs in short burst quite often.
Apart from the above, i noticed he is coming to a phase when he sees other dogs in the park he will refuse to walk. He lies on the ground posing in a stance like he is waiting to pounce on the other dog, but he have never shown any aggressiveness. (i think he just wants to play) I have yet to hear him growl and barking seems to be once in a blue moon kinda thing. I bring him to day-care every week so he can socialise with other dogs but he still behaves like that in the park when he sees other dogs. On another note, last week when i collected him from day care, the staff said he became a little aggressive during feeding time with another dog. They assume it may because the other dog that was trying to eat from his bowl wasn't neutered too hence the reason he showed some aggression..im working on a training schedule at the moment to relieve this otherwise the day care place will refuse to let him in.. :-( (sorry, this should be a topic for a separate post) But either way it was such a surprise for me..
On another note, has Toki gone into his shedding season yet?
