We're so happy he's doing so well! Having another dog there with calm vibes to help him out is great. He's such a beautiful boy. Glad he's got such a great new home!!
Yes, that is Kazue in the video. Her and Ritsu are best buds. Tora is doing much better with him today, and the pups love him. He is having a bit of an issue with me leaving him. He gets upset when I go to leave for work in the morning. Like everything else though, I don't make a big deal of it. He goes to his crate, gets a treat, and I leave.
He looks good in the vid. A little nervous with licking his lip, but I'm not sure if that's because of the camera or what. He seems interested in it at the end. I think he will do just fine with little Ren whose communicating in all the right ways to make him happy.
Ritsu met Kuma tonight outside of a crate. The interaction was very positive. I kept the first interaction to about 10 min so everything remained positive for both dogs.
Have not updated recently. Not much has really changed. Ritsu is adjusting to the routine around here. He has moved out of his airline crate and into a wire crate in the dogs room. He still gets upset when I go to leave for work in the morning, but being with the other dogs has helped him alot. Everyone else is calm when I leave so it is having a positive affect on him. Kuma and him are spending more and more time together. Introductions to Hiro have not gone well, but Hiro was not getting along with anyone before Ritsu arrived. That will continue to progress slowly depending on how Hiro accepts everything. Here are a couple of pics from tonight.
He scared the crap out of me last night. He has figured out how to open the storm door. Luckily he was just tired of waiting for his turn to go potty. After peeing, he came right up to me. Needless to say the front sir will be shut from now on. After he went back in the house he tried to open it again. These guys are just too smart sometimes.
Ritsu does look really goofy. I never had that impression of him before. Now I know where his daughter gets it....and where she gets that silly sit from!!!
I am working with him on training him to not bolt for the door. I have trained my others not to do it, so I am sure he will catch on. Ritsu and Kuma are great together. They are not playing together yet, but there is no longer any posturing, stiffness, or vocalizations.
Went to a dog show today. Was just going to hang out and visit with friends. Decided to take Ritsu along to see how he would do. At first he was pretty freaked, as the day went on he got more and more comfortable. He visited alot of kids and was very curious about everything. He decided my friends wolfhounds were the best thing ever and felt very safe around them. He actually laid down outside their ex-pen and took a nap. He calmly sat on his leash with my friend while I went to the restroom. Here are a few pics from today.
