I don't know what if anything has changed in the ingredients at this point. I have used it for dogs in the past maybe 6 years ago. I didn't really notice a huge change in anything. My dogs were not breeding dogs.
I would say some dogs can digest it and others not, most can. Really if you are feeding properly with good quality food then most likely there isn't a need for it. But that is me/my opinion personally for my situation. If you have a dog that needs a nutritional boost for a while, say poor conditioned animal or rescue situation, it probably can't hurt to add garnish to the food until the dog is stable.
I rotate it in my Omega 3 & 6 supplements - sometimes we do fish oil, sometimes Missing Link. I am actually using it now- the woodstove heat dries the dogs' coats out a bit, and they are hiking in snow and cold every day, so we're supplementing our omega oils. It's not shocking- as Snf says- but I had started to see some flakiness and dry coats and now their coats are normalized. I dont supplement all year, tho.
