A little Lucy and Joey spam
Now what kind of puppy daddy would I be if I let things go much longer without an update? A bad one, so let me make sure that doesn't happen. First here's a good photo of the little man:
Lucy and Joey are getting along just great! They play pretty much every minute they are awake. It usually starts something like this:
And quickly ends up more like this (note Lucy's ear is in Joey's mouth and Joey's paw is in Lucy's mouth):
Surprisingly, they are really good at sharing their toys too!
Even though Joey usually plays with his toys in the strangest of positions:
One of Joey's favorite games right now is to grab a toy and run under my bed. Although Lucy can fit under there, its tighter for her than for him so she usually chases him to the edge of the bed and waits for him to get confident and come toward her. Joey will pop out from under the bed in a section somewhere on the other side from where Lucy is waiting. Lucy will run over and try to get him and he'll disappear underneath the bed again. Then it repeats. It's absolutely hilarious. It's like one of those arcade games where you have to bonk the little groundhogs that pop their head up. I wish I had a video of it...I'll try to get one tomorrow.
Anyway, Lucy just adores Joey, but she is clearly upset at me for dividing my attention between the two of them once she is done playing with him. To smooth things out with Lucy (and more importantly to help socialize Joey) I've had a couple of play dates for them with Lucy's friends. They have all gone *REALLY* well. Here is the aftermath of today's play date:
I hope you enjoyed the update!

Oh Dave, how do you get anything done? Those are the most adorable pictures. You must be beside yourself with happiness that your two babies are getting along so wonderfully well. Keep sharing their (and your) fun.
We LOVE that last pic!!! Kurt laughed and said 'Silly Pup'.
Glad they're getting along too!!!!!
Thanks guys! I am absolutely ecstatic over how well things are going. Joey seems to have just the right attitude to put up with Lucy's quirks.

Dorthy: I have to admit, it has been pretty tough getting things done. Thank goodness I've been able to convince Joey that trying to climb out of his playpen is a bad idea. I can put him in there and Lucy will sleep on the couch while Joey amuses himself with a toy. That is the only hope I have of getting stuff done. :-)
Pam: Are you whoring out my little man? ;-)

I forgot to mention how amazed I am at the social skills he has already. At not even 11 weeks old he already has a lot of social skills that Lucy doesn't have. He respects when a bigger dog has a toy he wants. He doesn't get bothered when he gets toppled over during a chase. He will actually lay down and take a break when he's tired (Lucy continually sniffs around when she's not playing with other dogs....I've never seen her just lay down and take a break unless she's chewing on something). And most obviously, when there were three other dogs around, Joey was running and playing with them while Lucy was sniffing around the corners of the fenced in area. As hard as I've worked to socialize her after bringing her home with me and as much progress as she's made, Joey has just highlighted how much more work we have to do.
That last pic is awesome. Puppies play hard and sleep hard. Things don't seem like they could be going much better between Joey and Lucy, that is nice to see.
Thanks guys, I'm proud of both of them!
In the last day or two, Joey has started barking at people whenever he sees them. It doesn't seem aggressive at all. More excitement/curiosity than anything else. He barks and tries to go up and smell them. He's becoming a very outgoing little puppy!
I took this a few days ago but didn't get it off the camera until just now. I absolutely adore it! I'm 99% sure this one's going on my wall:
Are you using photoshop?
Beautiful picture...Joey looks like he is so happy in his new home.
