^.^ I remember when picking out my puppy's name.. Went through Mortal Kombat, Tekken, anime (Tenshi Muyo was a big one), I ended up with a pokemon... Names are the worst! I kept changing it after a few days.
Ryo-ohki, Tsunami, Washu was my top picks. I always pick dog names with two syllables though. I've read numerous times that two syllable names are easier to stick. My dog names are Ninja, Eevee, Mochi, and Sasuke (but people pronounce it as Sas-u-ke) bleh.
lmao i see u got naruto in there too although I don't watch naruto if at all lol I just know some characters. We usually have 2 syllables also but I decided to go a different route this time XD. I love eevee although nothing can replace arcanine and growlithe. My boyfriend and I joke around that Nanook is a level 100 growlithe since he's taller than your average shiba and once we get our JA she will be lovingly nicknamed arcanine since she will obviously be bigger lol @mapletwinkie btw I been practicing saying it now lol
Two syllables ending in "ee" are the easiest names for dogs to pick up on. Not that I've ever let that stop me. My Japanese dogs all end in "a" or "u" and have at least three syllables. Gryphon is two syllables, but doesn't even end in a vowel!
Lol nanook responds very well with the hard k at the end of his name X3 we thought it wouldve been hard for him to get it at first. When he was a pup he didnt really get the concept of his name but now he does. Picking a name thats unusual is so fun in my opinion
@poeticdragon I love Botan! I was dithering between between a few names for my (hypothetical) Kishu pup. Botan was in the running until my boyfriend pooped all over it. Benkei is a really nice boys name. I hope you use it.
Late to this party... As far as name endings for dogs, I stick to two syllables. However, Russell and London respond very well to their names, despite not ending in vowel sounds. TK is always an 'a' (hard or soft) by any of his names.
i purchased a kindle edition akita book that i may return and I also purchased another akita book that has been very helpful so far. It talks about the breed split in fact the 2 authors had arguments about the breed split one was pro the other was anti. My issue with this book is that it gives the generic info of AA's and not the JA and AA info separable making it seem like they have similar personalities etc...I enjoy this book very much don't get me wrong but does anyone have any other recommendations for the JA breed specifically??
^^ yeah, it's a bummer. Doctor said I can't do gymnastic stuffs as much because there is a great possibility that I might fall incorrectly and redislocate my knee.
I guess that would count me out on those types of activities too lol I broke my arm when I was younger and my elbow dislocated I was lucky I didnt get the rods in my arm XD
Everyone I am pleased to announce that I have gotten an acceptance e-mail from claire. One of the best news of my life and we should be expecting our new girl sometime in August. My mom cried in excitement as I was on the phone with Claire. We are officially going to start puppy shopping and I will let everyone know which little girl from bijo's litter "b" we will be getting. So excited to now be a full time member of this community.
So far as supplies go I got teh grooming stuff. 1. JW soft slicker brush I love the JW brand especially after working in Petsmart I saw how good this brand was and so I got the soft slicker brush which worked really well on nanook. I also got a comb with rubber handle for double coated dogs worked wonders on nanook also and being a former horse rider I also decided on a curry comb still waiting for it to ship. Soon I will be getting a martingale collar, leash, bowls, toys etc... pups are 3 weeks now can't wait XD
yes the comb has worked really great on nanook so far i only used it once being I just got it and I just got the slicker brush too I remember reading to use the slicker and comb when the dog is wet for best results and I have the zoom groom only a few tips are chipped off because nanook couldn't resist the urge to chew it while my brothers were throwing it -.- lol
Safari cat shedding Combs are great for getting out excess undercoat as well. I have a system for grooming my ladies: bath with furminator, either blow dry or air dry, brush with slicker, combed with a cat comb, then brushed with the zoom groom. It's a lot to do, but with the shedding that goes on because of living in the south, it really helps them feel better.
I really like, well... the dogs really like the Safari Shedding blade. They run away when I take out the slicker brush. ChoCho really hates it. The Zoom Groom is the best!
Hmmm safari shedding comb? I think ill give that a shot as well if only nanook was ok with the bath part :-/ its weird because my stepfather can bathe him with no problem. Btw is it ever too early to buy supplies for our new arrival? Pups will be 4 weeks in 4 days

How many names can dogs register? I know some people have nicknames for their dogs.
