Meds & Preventatives

I am getting ready to take Jazz in to update her Flea & Tick Preventative (Frontline Plus) and her Heartworm Preventative (Heartgard Plus) prescription.  I'm curious to know where you guys buy your preventative.  The breeder gave me the 6 month supply when I got Jazz, but of course now I need a scrip to order it online.  The best prices that I've found so far is at medi-vet.com - do any of you guys use them?

www.petshed.com - they have the best prices I have seen on Heartgaurd and Frontline.  They are out of Australia.  I use them for frontline and I know others who use them too, the products are legit.  I think it took a week for my order to show up.

    www.petvetdirect.com also have good prices.

We get our Rx's from Upco.com and have also used www.omahavaccine.com and DrsFosterSmith.com We've been doing this for years and have not had a problem. You might want to do a search for reviews of the online site before getting Rx's from them. We use Sentinel [heartworm preventative and insect growth inhibitor combo].

Thanks for all the info.  drsfostersmith.com is cheaper than 1800petmeds where I've purchased.  Even if they just save me $5, I'm swapping companies!  That $5 will buy The Jake Man a new toy!

its probably a much more lucrative business than silly pet supplies. maybe we should email them.

I'm a bit OCD, so I made a spreadsheet, listed the site and the price, so that I could do a full comparison.  I may switch over to sentinel after we go to the vet - I've got a lot of friends that the heartworm/flea/tick preventor is working really well for them.  The next step will be finding out which one my vet works with, because apparently there are some that she doesn't.

These were the sites that I found:

1800petmed.com - tends to be the highest

    drsfostersmith.com

    healthypets.com

    medi-vet.com

    nextdaypets.com

omahavaccine.com - one of the least expensive for heartgard plus and sentinel

    petcarerx.com

    petmed.com

    petrx.com

    petshed.com

vetmeddirect.com - one of the least expensive for heartgard plus and sentinel

entirelypets.com - one of the least expensive for heartgard plus and sentinel

LJ are the prices still cheaper with s/h included or are the prices before s/h?
  • edited November -1
cheaper for the most part - I'll go back to each of those sites and double-check, tough.  Most of them had the order a certain $ and get free shipping, as little as $35 USD to $75 USD.  If you're ordering a 6 mth suppply of frontline and heartgard or just a 6 mth supply of sentinel - you're going to be at/over $50 USD

Lol oh yeah. The minimum I'd ever buy is about $100+

    Shipping Costs:

    1800petmed.com - over $39 Free

drsfostersmith.com - free ground on meds & prescriptions

    healthypets.com - ground $4.95

    medi-vet.com - over $100 free

    nextdaypets.com - over $100 free

    omahavaccine.com - ground $5.95

    petcarerx.com - over $35 free

petmed.com - location specific on costs of shipping

    petrx.com - over $99 free

petshed.com - didn't list shipping easily, had to create acct, didn't bother

vetmeddirect.com - didn't list shipping easily, had to create acct, didn't bother

    entirelypets.com - over $100 free

    petshed.com - 1 item only - $5.00

Each additional item is $1.00 per item extra

    (Found their FAQ)

After s/h entirelypets.com would be cheapest for me but petshed.com would only be a dollar more lol. (Compared 6 months supply of feline Revolution)

I know - it really comes down to what item you are looking for, which is why I made the spreadsheet.  After hearing so many success stories on sentinel for our area and the variety of dogs it worked on, I truly think I'm going to check it out.  It's less expensive than Frontline Plus and Heartgard Plus put together, so that's a good thing.  Anybody got good or bad comments on Sentinel with Shibas?
