Brad! Jay and I are still laughing at that! That dog is terrifying and I want one. I would name him Dr. Snuggles. I would then get him a Pomeranian and I would name it Cerberus.

Ok. I am SO adding Xolo to my list! Is this real? I'm going to research it :o

edit//I looked up the breed & have yet to find any that look as cool as the one posted :x~

Osy - if you like sheepdogs and you like spitz breeds, you should check out the icelandic sheepdog. They're a spitz breed and ancestors to the sheltie.

Heidi - They're actually a really cool breed but probably not one I would want to own :o [ They're one of my sister's favorites, she'd kill to have one ]

I've seen some really beautiful representations [ like Skella, you're so lucky Heidi with all your pretty pups :o I'm envious ] & I'd love to have onw like her, but most of the ones I've seen have this sort of...[ this is going to sound really stupid ] huge wrinkle(s) of fur where their shoulder blade / back area is that annoys me. lol I know that sounds really vain >_>; I feel bad just saying it. :x

I just think if I got a pup & he ended up having that I'd brush him a million times a day trying to get the wrinkles out lol [ the little bit of OCD I have in me would probably come out :o ]

I know they've got great personalities...& I love their faces it's just that wrinkle. [ or is it a marking?? ]

I'm going to feel bad the rest of the night because I said that now. :o~

Don't feel bad Osy, we all have our reasons, however small or big on not liking specific breeds, markings, genders, etc. When we have a choice in the matter I think we're allowed to be picky :)

    1. Another Shiba Inu
    2. Basenji
    3. Pharaoh Hound
    4. Corean Jindo
    5. Norwegian Elkhound

I just love primitive breeds ;)

Not sure what you mean about wrinkles, maybe you could show me a pic. I like all the Scandinavian breeds. I actually do think the Icelandic Sheepdog is the least attractive of all of them, but they have all the character traits and were more available to me than the others. Actually, the thing about Icelandic Sheepdogs is there is such a great variation within the breed as far as looks. I think some are downright ugly and some are gorgeous.

If you ever look at the ones on dogbreedinfo.com, I think those ones are ugly. They're all from the same breeder and she favours long bodies, short legs, and she keeps them overweight for some reason.

Rina - I know, but I just feel so bad saying it :x

Heidi - That's what I'm talking about! [ the ones on dogbreedinfo.com ] Those guys look nothing like Skella! I guess it's just fat rolls that I'm talking about :o [ it's around their neck area]~

Yeah, they're kept really overweight, it makes me sad.
  • edited November -1
Do you know why she purposely keeps them overweight? They'd look really nice if she had them trimmed down a little. :(~

    Hmmmmm... tough to choose.

    1.Akita
    2.Kai
    3.Kishu
    4.Shikoku
    5.Karelian

Dogs I would love to own someday-- Tamaskan, Dogo, Rhodesian Ridgeback

Basically any dog I own needs to be able to tag along as a hunting partner. The wife finds it rather bothersome seeing as she wants a Borzoi or a 'small soft dog'. Funny story... the other day when she went to visit a friend who lives a few hours away. Her friends fiancee is an ex professional wrestler and owns a big cuddly Pit. She fell in love with it and now wants a Pit, lol.

Out of my list I'd probably end up owning only 3 of them at most before I die lol. I could live with that though.

Had lunch with a friend of mine yesterday. Guess what he is in the process of getting....Drumroll....a freaking Xolo! I will actually get to meet one of these monsters.
  • edited November -1
Awesome, maybe you can try to make it look creepier than the one above.

GAD! get your crucifixes and garlic out!

seriously, that thing is freaky. Maybe they make cuter puppies???
hm... let us google a bit...

    Clearly, I am disturbed...
    I think it is cute.

It looks like it has mange. A puppy with mange, I just automatically feel sad for it.
  • edited November -1
as a piglet, i think its cute, but as a puppy, it just doesn't work for me for any emotion but sad

    and scary.
sad and scary are the xolo to this dog owner.
  • edited November -1
We have had to treat and place 3 puppies with mange, and had to put a fourth one down because he was too far gone. You're right he does look like he has mange. That is one of those dogs, that people would ask you "what is wrong? Is your dog okay?" all the time.

I find them fascinating, but I wouldn't want to own one. Mainly because I don't like the idea of touching it.
  • edited November -1
Yeah, I think I would have a hard time snuggling with it. But then again, my friend Mitch is not a very snuggly guy. So they were made for eachother.
  • edited August 2008
Made for each other assuming that giant pile of ugly doesn't want to snuggle either. I know nothing of their temperament.
  • edited November -1
Maybe if it had a full-body sweater...
  • edited November -1
    "giant pile of ugly"

    hahahahahahahaha!

heidi - wouldn't that defeat the 'purpose' of the dog? :))
  • edited November -1
I guess so. Unless you REALLY like sweaters.
  • edited November -1
i really like cosby sweaters. heck yes i do.

so if i ever get stuck with a mexican hairless demon dog, i'll knit it a cosby sweater.
  • edited November -1
use some of the fur-yarn that Jen or Patty makes out of shiba fur - maybe that will make it look less...evil?
  • edited November -1
Oh man... now I want a xolo just so I can do that, lol!
  • edited November -1
The cosby sweater, of course... made out of dog hair yarn.
