New Shiba Owner

Hi everybody,


My name is louise and i'm the proud owner of a very cheeky 7 week old shiba pup, his name is sky. he loves being the center of attention and is a very happy friendly boy, I'd love some advice and any news on other shibas as im fasinated with the breed, I've been a dog owner my whole life and adore all my dogs, i also own a rottweiler and yorkshire terrier who sky wont be introduced to for awhile yet, both dogs are sweethearts and love playing with other dogs. any tips on how to introduce them? He'l be introduced to the yorkshire terrier ( Freddie ) first as I feel the rottweiler ( George ) might fighten him a bit. I'd love all your help

    Hi Louise, welcome to forum and welcome to the wonderful world of Shibas! Many of our members have written extensively about issues with raising shiba pups in lots of threads. If you can't find something by searching for it, just ask. We all love to share our experiences. Heidi, one of our members wrote a great article on introducing a new dog to a multi-dog household. It should be at the top of the list of discussions. Now that the formalities are done, hurry up and post some pictures of all your dogs!

     I'll get some as soon as possible, he's a red male with beautiful white markings and belive me I have never met a dog as adventurous!!!! Hopefully I can get some pic's to ya's by the end of the week Laughing

    Welcome to the forum.  Soon enough you will have many stories to tell about the crazy things your Shiba has been doing.  My advice is to get that guy out there and socalize him as soon as you can with humans and dogs.

     we've started socalizing him already with humans, he loves being around people and everytime somebody new comes to the house he gets over excited.Laughing We've started to leash train him already, just putting it on and walking around the house with him and he seems to be getting the hang of it but the first day we had it on he was jumping around like a rabbit!! He'l be meeting my other dogs very soon so fingers crossed that goes ok Smile
