Photos of Akita/adults and pups Wanted

Hi there, I've bought home a gorgeous red brindle Akita Inu today.

I'm really curious how Akita colourings change as they age, does anyone have any pics of their dogs as pups and adults they could post?

I really would like to know what mine will look like, I'll try post some pictures of her later as I'm using my phone and I can't see how to add it.

Not going to change much by the time the pup is old enough to go home. They're born darker than they are as adults, but that's because the red pigment starts out dark brown (even with reds) and turns orange later - and also stripes seem more dense on a tiny body.

Lovely thanks. She is a very similar colour so I imagine she won't be far off your dog looks wise. The only difference I can see is my Pumpkin has a paler mask.

I really love the lighter red brindles but the breeder advised against it as I wanted to have a go at showing her and she said the darker type without too much white generally do better.

Such a lovely pup though, just like our Shiba she is so clean in the house.

I would worry about structure and temperament in the ring before markings. A brindle can be light as long as the stripes are well defined. The crazy red brindle where the red dominates everything else tend to do worse but it's all subjective

Yes she was one of the nicest pups, she has nice angulation and was definitely the most outgoing. It's hard to tell at 8 weeks how they will end up though.

Do you think her red will develop more, it's quite washed out and brown like at the mo, I think the photo actually makes it look more red than it is.

Usually when the go to their adult coat the stripes clean up. The tend to get a little more red and then start the long trek of getting lighter.

She is lovely, such a sweet natured little thing and ww have her walking lovely on lead now. Just practicing recall now, it's very good at the moment as shes food motivated (obsessed) but I usually find it goes down hill as they get older and braver.
