Thanks, Kyla! And Happy Christmas and New Year to you as well, and to my pal Mylo! Hope his li'l paws are happier now! Did he get some cool Christmas loot and play in the snow? :D

We dont have a new house yet, so I dont know moving day- probably March? The schedule now is to De-christmasize this weekend before Jeff goes back to Vermont- then CLEAN like crazy, pack up stuff and stack it in our newly emptied basement (we had a junk guy come last week to take away our undonatables, then a charity came yesterday to take donated furniture) After NEw Years, our house is staged (it's supposed to look "neutral" while it is being shown) and listed for sale. Once it gets under agreement and a closing date is set - about 45 days from the agreement to buy it- we can start looking for our new place.

Jeff is working in VT during the week- staying at a hotel- he's scouting out towns and we've got it narrowed down a bit. Its hard because these towns are very small- a few hundred people per town in most cases. They don't all have good internet connections, and most don't have a high school for our daughter, so we have to choose a town based on what high school the town "sends" kids to. Raye is only in 5th grade now, but we should look ahead. Also some towns are farmy and others are foresty- we like both, but are leaning toward farmy. Some of the foresty towns are ski resort towns and have a bit more action going on.

We have already located the hockey rink. Jeff may start skating there in January on pick up nights. Good for him. I still have my league here in Mass for now. Since our season ends at the end of March, I may not actually end up missing very much of it.

Sounds like a LOT of prepping! It's great that Jeff was able to start so quickly, but kind of sucks that he's gone during the week. My Boyfriend's mom does the same between Kingston and Toronto. It can be exhausting. It's so good that Jeff can also do some hands-on research on the towns near his work though. It's important to think about planning Raye's school, long-term. You guys are so smart to take that into account. I'd personally LOVE to live in a ski town lol.

Are you worried at all about having to adjust the pups to a new place?

Oh, and yes; Mylo's paws are MUCH happier now. Grandma and Grandpa decided to give him Mutluks as an early Xmas present, so we're doing pretty well with them. He doesn't love them, but I'm sure he appreciates what they do for his paws. For Xmas he got two new types of treats from my boyfriend and I, and a whole bunch of new squeaky toys. He had a great day =0). How about yours?

Happy paws! I am glad Mylo is getting used to his boots- its nice the be able to walk on the road and not have to worry about the salt. Good old Mylo!

I gave Rei and Sage some deer antler chewies, two very tough plush animals that they havent destroyed yet, and two of a certain hard to find ball that Sage likes but we had lost over the summer. I bought Sage some MuttLuks as well, since Reilly has some, and he only had that set that didnt fit. I bought him orange ones. :) They enjoyed opening thier gifts (I put them in paper grocery bags and roll up the tops for a nice wrinkly ripping experience.) They got to enjoy my sister's labrador Cleo who visited for a few days. Sage and Cleo are very good friends- but they dont get together much since Cleo lives in Pennsylvania.

Yes, I am worried about adjusting the pups to a new place. But- I have some control over the place, and we are looking at places with more land and more distant neighbors. We will build a good fenced dog yard, and my expectations are not to go trotting off hiking with them for a while. Reilly will be fine, Sage will take some hand holding. My worst fear is loose dogs roaming the area, because I cant do anything about it. Rural living has different challenges than city living- City dogs are more sure to encounter another dog, but the chances are higher that dog will be leashed, and chances are higher that there is an obstacle you can duck behind- a parked car for example. Out here, and where we are headed, there are fewer dogs to meet, but its more likely they will be unattended the ruraler you are and there's no where to hide. Its harder for me to convince him "that dog isn't coming over here, just calm down and it'll pass."

But I cant worry about things I cant control that havent happened yet, so while I reserve the right to freak out later :) I am still too far away and have to little actual information to worry much yet.

In other news, unbeknownst to me, Jeff had Sage's breed mix DNA tested for a christmas gift to me (was supposed to be a birthday gift, but the results werent back in time for November)...more on that when I have a chance to write it properly!
