That was fascinating! Really interesting to see how the herd of Elk grouped together. Either they did not feel threatened by the dog or they knew their group tactics were enough to keep them safe. I really liked seeing how one of the Elk charged the dog. I swear man, that's the type of thing you see on the Discovery channel!
Ha Ha --- looks like the elk had some success in chasing the dog/coyote, instead of the other way around! Not too much fear there... looks like the elk thought this was more of nuisance than a threat!
Nice elk shots - reminds me of home. We had a couple herds that would come through the area annually. They liked to stay on the farm because of the pasture. They weren't at all afraid of the LGD, just saw her as a nuisance like a buzzing fly. Usually they would move on after a few weeks, but sometimes if they stayed too long we would try to scare them off with some gunshots. If that didn't work, we'd get a hunter in to take down the second in command cow (if you take the "alpha" cow, the herd just becomes confused and chaos ensues!)
I just wanted to share with everyone my huge epic fail...
I've had the game cam out in the Pueblo land behind our house for about 3 months now. We hiked out this evening to get it, got it home, stoked to see what I had captured....
I FORGOT TO PUT THE FREAKING MEMORY CARD IN IT!!!!!!!!!
So. freaking. stupid. of me. (
So, I will hike back out tomorrow and place it back in the same area, and hopefully have some Game Cam Spam in a few months.
LOL yep. Been there done that. I traveled about 45 miles to take pictures of a home for a virtual tour.....got there and found that the battery in the camera was DEAD. So was the backup battery. AND the backup to the backup battery! lol 'DOH!
Ok, I had the gamecam out for a few weeks, this time attached to the fence - usually i put it out on the edge of our property, but this time I wanted to see if animals came right up to our fence... and it looks like they do:

Man, it's so cool that you get to see wildlife so close!

*waiting for Dave to comment on the extra "e"* :-P
(like this past weekend, heading out with my SLR in tow only to find out when I get there that I had left the battery on the charger...)
I'm looking forward to the results 3 months from now!
No worries Brad, we've all done it. Once I took the dSLR & 10 pounds of equipment on a 12 mile hike...only to have forgotten BOTH memory cards.
So... at least you weren't lugging around useless pounds for no reason for 13 miles

That's a pretty ballsy move for that Coyote considering Luytiy is just a few hundred feet from this corner every night!
I'm going to put it at the opposite end tomorrow, I think that will be a more high traffic area. I'll leave it there for a month or so.
