My akita has a small hard lump on her hock?

Luna is now a year and half and has had a lump on her hock for a week she has a vet appointment this monday but was just wondering if anyone had any idea of what this could be. She is all white but the fur on the lump sort of pink like tear stains and the skin is pink and very dry and flaky also the lump is not weeping or causing her any discomfort.

If the fur is pink she has probably been licking or chewing on it. Their saliva can stain the same way as their tears.

I don't know what this is, sorry. I had a kitten develop a lump on her hock around 4-5 days old. It was almost as big as her paw and turned out to be a cyst, which the vet drained and she did just fine. I can still identify which leg it was on, but only by looking closely and because I know to look for it. The cat is now 9 or 10 years old.

    Thanks for the advice!

she hasnt been chewing or licking it though, she is with me all day every day i take her to work with me so i know she doesnt do that. I think it might be from all the dry skin that is through the fur but thats just a guess.
  • It turns out she just has a skin infection and the build up of dry skin made a soild lump thankfully it should be gone in 2 weeks :-). Thanks for the advice!
  • Glad to hear it wasn't anything serious!
