  • Thanks @brada1878! Her coat is so thick and wiry. So much different than Kunai's (I think it's why she's always a bit more dusty than he is!! lol) Do you have new pics of Nami up? I'll have to look up and see if there's a thread on her with current pics :o) Is it just me (?) Or do I see strong resemblance to Akashi in her from Waka????
  • She sure did grow into her own! I didn't have Ren at the time to see it, but after looking back at the first set of pictures her and Ren may almost be twins from when Kitora was that age. She sounds like an amazing family dog and loves your daughter quite a bit!
  • Kunai and Kitora are very pretty! Glad to see they get along well with the family.
  • Oh forgot to mention, @CarabooA that description of behavior is pretty spot on for how Ren is now in her early adolescence. I give her some raw and cooked meat to help bring her weight up, occasionally a bit of my own food when at the computer or tv. As a result, most times that I come back to my computer with food she gets excited and sits very excitedly like "Oh you brought both of us food!". She's hardly ever "rude", and if she is then all it takes a firm, but gentle, "nuh uh" and she gets it right away.

It's pretty funny to be honest, she doesn't do the "head on chair/leg while staring" or any form of begging for the most part, unlike other dogs. She just innocently assumes that whatever I bring back is for "us" haha.
  • That's great @cezieg! Yeah, Kitora is up there with our dog Mirra as far as learning "politeness" Her sit-wait is incredible and they get raw food mixed with Kibble most days - so it is very tempting!
She has only recently started barking in the car and strangers and when I'm in the car with her she boof boofs and then looks at me like "right?" If I say, "no" she looks at me with a head cock and then keeps a close eye on the offender... lol
She is VERY alerting of strangers who have NOT been invited in! This is where I see the side of the Kai that will defend their people with all their heart. It's amazing the difference compared to when someone is invited in. She really is wonderful and a really great dog to have in our family!
  • Here are a couple more Kitora pics from this morning :o)

    She's such a little lady!!
  • Daww look at that face! Is she a fan of tug of war? lol
  • Kitora's coat is coming back in and her brindle is way obvious and fabulous!!! Sorry for the dangling carrot but I was so excited this morning I had to tell everyone - I'll get pics soon!!!
  • And new Kitora SPAM - I think I got a few good ones that show how luscious her coat came back in with more brindling. Of course we think she is just the best. I need to get a new weight on her, she is still bigger than Kunai... He says he likes a strong woman though... lol

Just weighed Kitora in at ~37 lbs... big girl!!
  • wow! 37 lb female!
    She is delightful!
  • Thanks Chrystal! Yeah, I think our pair is the opposite of your pair, lol. A small Aka boy and a large Kuro girl... :D
  • Hey yeah, you are right! :)
  • She's the perfect color to mate with Kunai. He mother is aka too, so you will probably produce some aka pups.
  • I was thinking that too @brada1878 - Yuume is such a pretty dog too - I think they will have some really nice puppies one day!!!
