I am probably the worst Kai owner at taking pictures of my dogs. I have to say, they're coloring makes it so I don't like taking pics of them. Plus, I'm more of an art show/wedding/hiking/ type photographer, and I'm lazy at photoshopping my own pics since I have to do it for work. :-)
Excuses aside, I took a few this past weekend (not photoshopped) and put them into the flickr.
Mika is almost 7 months old now. She is flippin' adorable with the cutest personality. She's a firecracker who can also be uber lovable. Koda is 3 1/2, and my rock. The two of them love each other very much, and can be caught in the morning bathing each other, and in the evening french kissing on the couch for like 20 minutes at a time. It's too cute.
Here's Mika. This is probably the only time I'll ever get her to stay still while the camera is out.
We went to Pt. Isabel last week. I wanted to see how Mika would do off leash in a safe environment. Notice she's on leash most of the time. ;-)
Mika's brindle
My niece Cierra taking Koda down to the water.
You can't really get a dog's face when they are on leash.
Koda and my niece have a special relationship. Actually Koda shares this with a lot of people. He has a very comforting presence, and loves affection.
I love them all!!! Good old Mei! Koda looks so happy and both your indoor and outdoorpics of Mika show her very well! Outside, I especially see her stripes! What a fun day for the dogs. Koda seems so sweet and cool!
Thank you for the update! They are all really fabulous Kais. I was especially surprised at how good Koda was with people...he is such a sweetie. Mei cracks me up, she is so awesome!
Yay! Thanks for the pics @tjbart17 ! She looks great! You can really see the family resemblance in the shape of their faces! She is really lovely and nice brindle on her too! Isn't it great how all the dogs just seem to fall in love with each other!! How fun! Nice to see you happy fuzzy family!
Love Mika's brindle and Mei found a mole that's Saya's favorite thing to do in the yard check for moles or rabbits.. She hasn't had luck with moles though.
@KaiParents Mika is almost 7 months old. That's why she sleeps through the night. But she pretty much always has. Her breeders crate trained her before she came home. It made a huge difference. Plus, I'd put a bully stick in there with her. If she was awake, I think she just chewed on it happily.
@Saya I actually think Mei is part Shiba. :-) Really I do. She's definitely a mix Kai.
@CaraBooA Mika's face actually looks more cylinder in that picture than it really is because of shading. She has more of Kumi's shaped face with Ritsu's eyes. I was looking at that last night. The problem is terrible lighting in my home. I'm actually going to repaint and work on the lighting in the Spring when my hardwood floors are installed.
Thanks everyone! They are my family. I'm very proud of how all of them are doing, especially Mei. She's turned into such a great adult, and Mika is her pride and joy. It makes me love Mei that much more when I see how good she is with Mika.
Aweeeeesome pictures Tara! Wow Mika has some gorgeous brindling. I love that first picture of her where she's looking directly at the camera, she looks a lot like Ren there! That little "ring" over the top of the muzzle in front of her eyes is cute, you know that little area where the direction of the muzzle fur changes from straight back. Mei and Koda look great too! Koda and your niece look like they get along perfectly
I hear you on being terrible at Kai pictures, if the sun isn't at a perfect 30 degree angle from the dog's butt then you'll never see any brindling on these Kuro-tora Kais. All you'll see is white sheen from healthy fur lol.
@cezieg Actually Mika's brindle will come out in really any picture. She has a lot, and is getting more each day. She will be a nice Kuro-Tora'd dog. I think that Kumi and Ritsu really had a nice litter when it comes to color and uniformity in the striping. Koda's is not as thick and more blond. It is more difficult to get.
Koda is really very compassionate when it comes to the people he loves, but Koda is also more aloof towards strangers unless it's a child or someone with a developmental disability.

Koda is such a pretty boy! Love his "soulful" expressions
Mika is beautiful!! LOVE the pic of her on her bed.... so adorable!
@Kuma123 We call Koda The Prince. He is always so noble looking. He's my heart.
@Kuma123 @Wrylybrindle That's actually Koda's bed. She prefers anything that's his.

And don't forget Mei. She found a mole
