Bear Hunting Training-American Akita and Laika and Other 'Working' Akita videos
Edit2: Seems im just going to have to post just links. Just copy link and paste it into another window
Edit:Links are not working, going to try to fix that.
They are using a chained bear for training and a wounded moose, for people sensitive to this kind of training here is a warning in advance.
Recently I have become fascinated and absolutely smitten with the American Akita, however it has been difficult to find many good videos of seeing some being worked, especially since I am interested in getting a working prospect one eventually in the future. So after some searching I came across a youtube channel called MatagiKenReal. Seems they are breeders of both AAs and Laikas but I thought these were very interesting since I'm interested in hunting large game with Kuma, but its great to see the AA still got it. If I could just decipher russian i would definitely want to get a pup from these guys.

I don't really like seeing the chained bear, but....
To me it's no "test" to let dogs go after a chained and mutilated bear....
We did like the pulling videos, though, esp. the car one! The Akita I had many years ago in Alaska loved to pull sleds or pull me on skis!
I recently saw one staged in Argentina with a bear on chain w no teeth and claws fighting 2 dogo. Really not cool.
And I am a bear hunter...
On another note, AA have become such a popular breed to mush with that some people have been producing AA husky crosses to run in their teams. The breed is also starting to get listed as a sled dog breed on some websites and books, sometimes with a very construed breed history.
@Calia I've been seeing that to the more i look into it to, I do wonder eventually what will it lead to. I think they look quite in their element doing any kind of pulling work.
Supposedly the ones who actually attended said the outsider's view is misconstrued and and most dogs fail the test. People from northern Europe and western Europe travel to Russia and Bealrus to participate.
On the other hand, there is a serious welfare problem with using them; and public image problem. I cringe every time when someone from Germany or France publishes a report on those hunting tests.
