Homer?
Is it me or do Akita males act like Homer Simpson?
Kuma farts big stinkers and burps like a hog after he finishes eating.
He's getting 'excited' very frequently these days (pity we don't have a Marge for him yet!).
He is quite sloppy and lazy around the house all day except when there's food involved or at least a chew toy and when he lies down it's never very graceful. In fact he looks like he's a bit drunk sometimes!
Oh and speaking of that, he gets hiccups really easily (OK Homer gets those after a few beers not a cat attacking/startling him, I know).
Thankfully he's too cute to be turned off!
So, what about your Akitas? :-)

Here is the deal tho - this may break the Homer Simpson thing - our females make just as many gross noises! They fart and burp all the time, Lani even snorts like a pig.
The one thing Hilo does that the girls don't do is let out these long drawn out moans when he is laying around, sometimes they sound almost sexual! Its kinda gross. lol
----
He has done the fake vomit too - and lots of real vomit for that matter!
Oh and the gross slurping noises he makes when he's cleaning his nethers... eugh, I better stop there!
It DOES help that he doesn't look like Homer though!
I mentioned in another post. Keigo does make noises....but the farts are odorless. It's really funny. In fact, I'm not always sure who is passing the gas - Kurt or Keigo. Keigo farts sound like human farts. The farts most sound like a human fart when he sits! It's soooo funny. (If some odor wafts into the air, I know who it is, LOL). Keigo does amble around like a drunk Homer, which is super cute.
It's Mika with the stinky farts! She also burps like a trucker and snorts like a pig.
As for the hiccups, does he get them after he eats? Might be gobbling up his food too quickly. Although he is still a pup. Puppies and babies hiccup alot. Dunno why, just what the vet says.
On second thought, watching Homer is great, owning Homer.... I dunno
Awww, but you know you want your own burping-farting-drunken-akita-ball-of-fluff ;D ~
He'll fart and walk away from the room as if nothing happened. He'll belch, and sometimes vomit and eat his vomit. He snores as loud as my gran-ma and makes a mess whenever he drinks. He'll eat anything that falls off the table only to jump on the table to get more.
And for some god-forsaken-reason, he would smell like crap even after having a bath the previous day.
I've always wanted an Akita. I fell in love with them the moment I read about them from my encyclopedia (remember those? lol). But to know they act like Klaus (the Dobe), that just doesn't sound very appealing . At least they don't smell (except for farting)...or do they?
Speaking of "thud", the other day we got home and I had this frame thing under my arm, I bent down to take my shoes off, without lettinf go of the frame so Kuma wouldn't knock it down. Turns out he instead bumped his head on it from underneath hard enough for me to feel uncomfortable about the amount of energy that passed on to me. He couldn't care less.
Osy, you might not know this, but I'm not much of a dog person - Kuma's my first. I don't like dogs usually because they sometimes get messy and stink of dog - but Kuma doesn't. I have always preferred cats because they're very independent about personal hygiene.
He grooms himself, which is very cat-like. After going for walkies, he usually seems to be cleaning his paws and lower legs - he has a tendency to pee on his own legs, especially when he decides to pee against the wind!
He's clumsy, yes - I always attribute it to the fact he's 7.5 months old... it's cute though!
He gets really clumsy when we get home and we have to ignore him until he settles down -it's like he acts like a lab or something. He jumps like a frog, runs and skids to and fro and brings us his toys to play right away. Then, when he realizes what we're doing, he lays down with his butt up and his front low and he sometimes yelps in protest. I should get that on video, actually.
