Kahuna's Thread.

edited November 2008 in Akita (秋田犬)
Kahuna is safe at his new home, he has met all the pups and done VERY well with him. He is in the best condition of any puppy I have received, Emilie clearly puts a LOT of effort and thought into her breeding program!

Kahuna is very sweet, he is a bit fearful of me, but otherwise he is GREAT. He just sat in the seat and watched out the window the whole drive home, it was very cute.

Here are some pics from this morning of Kahuna!

*gushes* I love the fourth to last one. He's all puffy and looking like a macho dude. :-) He is strickingly handsome. I'm so glad things are working out well for him and the pack. :-)

I didn't realize he would be so big already! It looks like he's the same size as Kona, maybe bigger. He's gorgeous, Brad. I'm so happy for you guys!

His ears are almost all up!!! I wasn't expecting that! He is quite a bit bigger than I expected him to be. And his face has changed since the last picture. I can't believe how quickly he's growing.

I'm with Dave. I love that studly pic. His chest is high and proud. And I really love how he's approaching Lani.

Brad and Jen: CONGRATS! I am so glad that both Kahuna and Luytiy are fitting in with your pack. You guys are awesome, and your dogs prove it. :)

He is simply gorgeous! (And this comes form a guy that isn't crazy about brindle :-) )
He seems to be in great shape and seems pretty confident.

    Félicitations, Emilie!

Thanx guys, he really is stunning - more so even in person. He looks like he is in a tiger suit or something.

    ----

He has fit in nicely, he is a busy little guy. He is a bit skittish with noises and fast movement but he seems to be doing better as time passes. He is a little fearful of my, not sure why, but I just walk around with treats and treat him when he comes by.

Kahuna and Fuji, Kona, Kaia, Luytiy, and Loa do very well together. Hilo is fine but he gets a bit rough in play so we have them separated unless both Jen and I are out there.

Lani is pretty weirded out with everything, first having to be here with some stranger while we were gone, then we show up with a huge CO and then I leave and come back with a little Akita pup. then today we are very sleepy and I'm sure the dogs have noticed that. Also Ahi is being a real bitch since she is in her crate and injured. So I think Lani and Kahuna will take a little adjusting before they are 100%.

The weather here has been kinda hectic too, we had a crazy winter storm pass today with very strong winds, so that has thrown all the pups off too.

    ----

We are so happy to finally have Kahuna here - he is EXACTLY what we wanted!

Kahuna is absolutely beautiful, and sounds like he is fitting in well with the pack! Thanks for keeping us up to date on the doggie changes! Glad you had a safe series of trips and everyone is home again (or for the first time in their new home)... Looking forward to more news on the Anderson doggie front, and more pics of the beautiful doggies!

Oh! he's beautiful!! I love the brindles. He certainly is a very good looking fellow. So how many does that make in the pack now? I lost count. All I have to say is God bless you. Or maybe he already has, with all those doggies to love you.

I noticed that most Akita on this forum are of the japanese type. Doesn't anyone like the American type? Just curious, not a big deal.

Brad, it's normal if Kahuna is a bit fearful of you: Kahuna prefer women to contact.... (He's like his father Achiko!! hihihi)
Leave him time to be confident with you: Kahuna love to play with human, so play a lot with him!!
    ^_^

His brindle coat has to be one of the best I've ever seen. His face is so cool, it looks like he has white eyebrows. That's great that everyone is getting along at this point (except for Ahi, but that's to be expected because she needs to be kept quiet and wants to get out and play with everyone). I think him and Hilo are going to be doing some major sumo wrestling in that house! They are going to be great buddies.

It's strange to see Kahuna so far from us.
He grew up a lot since I last saw him...
  • edited November -1
Today Kahuna seems a lot more comfortable. I have started letting him out of his crate and giving him his food so he is warming up to me. :o)

Emilie - You are right, he SUPER playful, he really likes to play with Luytiy! <- He just jumps on him, it's really cute!

They may be bonding too as the two new kids in school. Like "hey they are still suspicious of you too huh? Lets play!"
  • edited November -1
Oh Brad, we need a video of Kahuna jumping on Luytiy...PLEASE!

    Ho good idea! a video!!!!
