Hair inbetween blowing coat?

I've read many things about shikoku ken and shibas blowing coat, but I was just curious, how much hair is left inbetween the time that they blow coat? We just have to deal with annoying little black sharp hairs left all year round by our Sevook, but I want to know how it is with a shikoku. It would be great if you guys could give some input.

Miko is just finishing up blowing her coat.
    It was TOUGH.
It has taken her about three weeks. At the peak of it I was vacuuming 3 times a day.
Basically she is left with her coarse guard hairs right now. She looks very slim. Not fluffy at all. There are a few clumps that she still needs to shed (I think she is saving it for when I am dressed up for something).

Here are a couple pictures taken a day or so ago.
    mamas little mangey coyote...

    Totally off topic:

Jess - I LOVE that last picture! Miko winking and Ruby all stretched out. :)

Miko does look less "fluffy", even when I saw her last she was starting to get thinner in the coat. Miso and Sake are still shedding like crazy, I think it's because this weather sucks.

P.S. Jessica that is the BEST picture.

That picture is great! Miko is winking at you because of the all dressed up comment, like yep that's what I'm waiting for.

Ruby looks like a happy girl. The frog position is cute.

wow, she looks still cute though, even though she isn't fluffy now, haha. I think i phrased the question wrong haha, i meant how much hair is left behind when the dogs aren't blowing coat? like, if they were to jump onto a couch on a normal day when they aren't blowing coat, how much hair would be left behind?

I'm very curious about this as well actually. Good question! :) ~

That, I have a hard time answering. In addition to Miko I have four cats. So I am doomed to a life of vacuuming regardless.

There always seems to be a good coating of hair on my couches, whether it be shedding season or not.

We've only had Oliver for one coat blow but before that he shed very little and now that it's over there's not much at all.

Katsu hasn't blown her coat yet. She sheds a little, but mostly when she's stressed.

oh okay, thats what i had heard before too, with them barely shedding during normal days when they aren't shedding, just thought i should get a good idea of what to expect from people who deal with it first-hand. Well, i'm pretty good about cleaning up the hair a couple times a week, plus, i'm kinda used to dogs blowing coat because my friend has an australian shepherd that blows her coat about twice a year and i always go over to help her groom her, and I'm honestly not shocked at all that hair now, although i was the first time.

If shikoku specifically are different I don't know but our akita and shiba aren't really noticeable aside from when they are blowing their coats. If you don't clean often you'll find some hair but otherwise I rarely see any except twice a year. That twice a year more than makes up for it. My desktop is dead because the akita hair clogged the graphics card fan and overheated everything. The house was noticeably hotter today and walking around I figured out the vents were clogged with hair so air wasn't circulating to parts of the house. We're only half way through the fall fur explosion. :/

OMG I had never thought that something like that could happen!!! haha, sorry, but I find that kinda funny. Imagine this conversation:

    You: Aww, my computer broke
    Friend: That sucks. How?
You: My dog's hair clogged up the fan
    Friend: O.o

I vacuum the fan on my computer at least once a week. Between Miko and the four cats it is relentless.

Ah! Be careful about vacuuming computers! Apparently you can do a lot of damage to the magnets inside the computer. Buy cans of compressed air instead, and blow the hair out. =0)

Oh jeez, I can just imagine... Still it's something I'm willing to live with. I've never had a problem with hair but my parents used to be really bad about it but since we got our dog and he's not a "non-shedding" breed, they've gotten accustomed to it. Besides, I'd rather have 2 HUGE coat blows in the year compared to this year round shedding I have going on now

Careful, some of these dogs have a year round shedding thing going on :0 There are a couple different types of double coat in the shiba, but I don't know if this is true with Shikoku or the larger Nihonken.

Lindsay: yeah, I was wondering about those different styles of undercoat too, along with different styles of shedding. I know from former posts that Rakka the shikoku starts shedding in a burst all of a sudden and it ends soon too, but then I have heard of some that can go for months and months of blowing coat and it just doesn't seem to end. I think this also has something to do with the weather, like if you are having strange weather such as one day really hot, then it cools down dramatically, then it becomes hot again, this can "confuse" the dogs' coat. But it could also depend on the dog too.

Who knows :P it'll be a while before we get our first nihon ken, we'll see then haha :D

Of all my pets, I'd say that Rakka sheds the least in between blowing her coat, but holy crap, when she blows her coat it is absolutely insane. And sudden. I went into town for a few hours once, when I left, there wasn't any sign of shedding from anyone, and when I got home, I could basically see every place Rakka had been while I was gone, I mean there were clumps of fur coating absolutely ever surface she went near! It was floating off of her as she walked. I probably could've tracked her through a forest. Insane.

But then, with thorough brushing it's over within a week, and that's that. She lays all over the furniture and I don't really notice a problem. Most of the fur I vacuum up is red shiba-coloured.
