She obviously really values her RAW food, huh? (and not so much her kibble)

Do you give her RAW very often?

When we fed ours RAW we would hold the chicken legs (or whatever they were eating then) for them, letting them tear off the meat while we help it (we used rubber gloves). I think this really helped them not see us as some one/thing who/that may take their food from them - and that helped stop them from feeling the need to guard it from us.

The more you feed her RAW the less she will value it and (theoretically) the less she will guard it.

Haha, yeah, some of our dogs get protective about their raw. Luna will take it, go into her crate, and block the entrance with her butt.

I just got the shiiiiit chewed out of my hands trying to feed a cairn terrier raw for the first time. Holy crap that dog was "enthusiastic"! I was trying to teach her to CHEW - and she was just like OMGHEAVENINMYMOUTH and had no idea my hands weren't part of the chicken!

Dogs can be very, very 'enthusiastic' about raw at first, but are certainly not vicious, just valuing the experience I guess.

We remedied the cairn's veracious appetite for raw with a pattie of premade 5 mins before giving her a whole half a chicken. She chewed. my hands thanked me.

Or, Jen, you can always give 'em whole prey.. Much more to have to work for, and less compulsive swallowing! Good thing Cairns are small though! Sorry about your hands :)

Oh I suggested whole prey, I actually have a duck (minus head) in my freezer, but her owner is one of those nervous newbies. :)
She isn't excited about whole dead animals yet.

Extra duck on hand .. not fair!

    Beebe loves duck heads :)

I just got done giving mine a cow tongue, Ike gets downright mean with the resource guarding. It was slimey, bumpy and smelled like a cow-ewww, and he was not going to tolerate Beebe going anywhere near that prize. He made the awfullest Alien teeth face I have ever seen, and Beebe was crawling up to him licking the air like a puppy begging (she already finished hers), it was pretty sweet, but no, he would not regurgitate any for her although she does for him. I have never seen that behavior except for when I began feeding raw, very wild canine.

Lantis wouldn't care how much any of the pups beg. He'd rather swallow the whole thing just to prevent others from getting it. So course we keep the others away least he choke.. lol

They regurgitate for each other! How awesome!

Idk if it was intentional when B did it those two x and I wasn't really begging but he was happy to eat
it. It was probably from horking too fast.

Mine have done that too, usually its Tsuki regurging and Kitsu swoops in for the score.
    Nature fascinates me.

Just feed a piece of about 2.5 inch wingette to Aki this afternoon.

She held it in her mouth for a bit, crushed the bones, and freaking swallowed the thing!

Guess we have to hold it for her next time...

Morning update 6:45 am - She regurgitated part of the harder bone.

I haven't heard too many viscious dogs on raw comments. The only thing I ever heard was if you have a dog that guards your chicken coup make sure it never gets raw eggs. But I'm not certain how much truth their is to the theory about that.(I was told they'd pretty much become as bad as the foxes they're trying to guard against)
