Have you tried a new flea medication? Sometimes new meds could create a bald spot.

no, it's the same Advantage he's always taken, but now that you mention that, it is in the same spot I apply it, but he gets it on the 15th of each month so it's been 15 or so days. I know he was fine when I took him to the groomer last weekend. Maybe it's something she applied...?

Did she shampoo him? Maybe a chemical reaction somehow? Whatever it is, I'm sure it's fine and nothing serious.

Yes, she shampooed him. I hope you are right. Whatever it is, I'm sure his Dr. will get him fixed right up. Thanks for the input.

Is it just a bald spot, or is the skin irritated, red, or sore looking? If the skin looks irritated, or worse, oozing, it could be a hot spot.

No, just the balding spot, doesn't appear to be a sore.

if you use the furminator too often it might cause a bald spot?? I don't know - could be a combination of whatever treatment he had at the groomer and/or furminator treatment. A mystery!

Niko had the SAME thing. Right where I put her advantage and she has had it for 2 years +. We put her next dose between her shoulders and the fur grew back and we cant tell it was ever a problem. It got very coarse, broken and bald. Took maybe 2 months to be normal? Freaked me out though. Dave saw Niko's spot and when he sees jake next week maybe he will notice if it is the same.

I'll do my best, although I'm going to be at a bachelor party next week so it may be a while before I see the Jake man.

Hmmmm, interesting Mommy. Perhaps that is the case here, it's definitely in the spot where I administer the Advantage. He won't need it again til the 15th.
