Nemo cleans himself all the time, anytime he lays down he does at least a little cleaning before he naps.

I have yet to see Mylie clean herself, and I've had her for a little over 4 months now... It's weird, she'll be filthy disappear for a few minutes and it seems like immediately the filth is gone. I think she cleans herself under the couch...

Shibas are pretty tidy. However, if a pet has been put in a situation that they can not attend to their personal hygiene then it might be a good idea to get some unscented baby wipes to help them out...i.e. their bumm from getting irritated. If a dog is getting a little too stinky (particularly a Shiba) it might indicate possibly anal gland issues. Snf
