# Decent Food at a Good Price

I am a college student so money is relatively tight, but I don't want to skimp out on my dogs food, what is the best dog food for a reasonable price. Also what is the difference between wet and dry food, besides the former being more palatable. There seems to be a difference is min protein content, wet food seems to have a lot lower protein %.

As far as price goes, I would go to K9Cuisine.com, all of their foods are great and you can just pick the least expensive (tho, I would stay away from TimberWolf Organics). Find a food on their and then see if you can find any in a store, or order online.

As far as canned vs. dry goes, dry is better for your dogs teeth, but canned offers a great moisture content. If you are buying top quality canned foods and kibble I would think the nutritional difference would be small - but I am not 100% sure.

I think Innova Evo is good quality and cheaper than Nature's Variety or Orijen(I rotate through them all).  Innova Evo canned is very good quality(the protein content you are talking about in canned food is not what you think, because of the moisture content in the food you have to do some math, I believe the actual protein content in Evo cans is like 50%).  The Whole Dog Journal explains how to calculate canned food protein content in one of their past publishings, but I can't remember which month it was.  But boy is buying canned food EXPENSIVE.  Brad, contrary to popular belief, canned is not bad for a dogs teeth, I think I read that in that same Whole Dog Journal publishing, and I've read that in Veterinary Practice News magazine.

Well the grain would be considered a big difference. Kinda hard to give you suggestions without knowing which way you'd want to go.

All dogs digest foods differently.  I have tried Orijen and it didn't mesh well with my doggies stomache's, so i've switched them to Evo and noticed almost an instant difference.  They are both very good foods.  I also mix in The Honest Kitchen "Verve" dehydrated raw food with their dinner.  The Honest Kitchen is quite expensive for the amount you get but my dogs LOVE it!  I only mix it in for their dinner though, I don't think i would be able to afford giving it to them for every meal.
