Me - We dont sell kittens we have a few cats for adoption though. Girl - No I want a kitten I already have 3 cats, I want a kitten. Me - Wont the kitten grow up into cat in a few months though? Girl - Yeah Me - What will you do with it then? (Im scared now) Girl - It'll go outside with the other of our cats I like the kittens. Mom - She likes taking care of them when there little. Its cute. This will be her 6th kitten :-) (she smiles at me as proud as she can be) Me(I thought she only had 3 cats where did the other two go?) Girl - Mom I want a kitten Please lets go buy a kitten. Mom - Bye :-) (Off to buy the 6th kitten) Wow, what are we teaching our young people today! That kitten will have a good life for the next few months but then what? There is no need to exercise patience in today's world because technology allows us to do things faster, or at the same time as something else. I am a child born of one and raised in another. I know what I've gained at the expense of what I've lost. The great things about dogs is they have no concept of time (especially Shiba's) and they teach you patience. She definitely has a concept of time when it comes to what she wants! When she wants something, she wants it NOW. But she has taught ME patience, understanding, and compassion. And I know that she will wait for me to come home for hours at a time (I know this because Eric is always telling me stories of her sitting by the door peeping out the window waiting for me to come home). She will also cuddle with me all day if I am not feeling well. I once had a cat that would do that also, so it is not confined to just the canine species. That mother ought to be ashamed of herself for allowing her child to be like that. It would be the same as me saying that I only like babies and when they turn into toddlers, I will throw them outside and let them fend for themselves. (*Disclaimer, I would never throw a toddler outside... Unless it is onto a trampoline. I say that because I used to toss my nephew when he was younger (2-3) onto the trampoline and let him bounce around. He got such a kick out of it. Heidi had a girl this time around though she does have a son too. We are just hoping for one of each sex. I think it's likely seeing as his parent's and both grandparent's had a boy and then a girl and that's it. Hopefully, we'll follow suit. It's too bad it came from a real life situation. Poor kittys. I love kits too, enjoy them while they are young and love them even more after they are mature and trained. I think my house will someday be over run by kittys again (I do not think one can have too many -grins-). Fiskars is 10 years of age and Mia is 4 years...they may be grown, but they still act very much like kits. -sighs- Perhaps someday this little girl will learn to appreciate older cats as well...maybe when she herself is older??? I remember when I was a "little girl", I loved my kittys even after they grew.
