# Poor Rakka...

There's a family of quails and a rabbit living in the bushes outside our house and they keep parading around the front yard, taunting her.  Poor, tormented Rakka.

I think quails are the cutest things. Poor Rakka.

## Evan · 2008-02-17T18:38:36.000Z
Why are things that are so cute also so delicious?

## sujewel · 2008-02-17T20:04:23.000Z
I agree, Even. Cute things do taste good. I've never had quail, but squab is excellent. And yes, Jessica, quails are so so cute.

If you could understand Lagomorph or quail you would realized that the quail are walking by saying "eat the rabbit, eat the rabbit, they are good eatin", and the Lagomorphs would be saying "eat the quail, oh what fun it is to eat the quail"... LOL each trying to convince Rakka of the other.

Too funny.

Ron

LMAO that is what the stray cats do to Niko and Sasha.  We are mean and let the dogs out to chase them.  They dig in our trash.

Poor Rakka! Ahi know her pain, we have rabbits and various birds that do the same to Ahi all the time.

Does Rakka sit at the window and cry like Ahi does?

Brad, yes, she makes all sorts of unholy noises.

I managed to get a picture of one of the culprits...

## sujewel · 2008-02-18T15:15:43.000Z
Cute!!!

## _dlroberts · 2008-02-18T15:19:22.000Z
Cute little bugger. I wonder if it has any idea how much of a commotion it causes?

## JessicaRabbit (admin) · 2008-02-18T15:24:31.000Z
I love bunnies!

## MommyofNiko · 2008-02-18T15:30:23.000Z
Jessica....is there anything you dont love?

## JessicaRabbit (admin) · 2008-02-18T15:37:56.000Z
Michael Vick, football, lazy people, whiners, I am completely freaked out by silverfish!, I HATE licorice, I hate people who will not take responsibility for their actions, and worse think everything is someone elses fault, texting grammar (r u kidding? UGH), Paris Hilton (and people who are famous for being vabid and crass), gossip magazines, spam (the canned meat and the junk email), the New York/Boston rivalry (I moved up here from New York and I could care less about all of it, I just think they are mean and without class) and FRESCA

I AM TAKING A STAND RIGHT HERE! I HATE FRESCA IT TASTES LIKE BABY ASPIRIN!

Otherwise, I like most things.

## MommyofNiko · 2008-02-18T15:40:48.000Z
Im sorry, I meant animals....LMAO.

You need lots and lots of help....HAHAHA

## _dlroberts · 2008-02-18T15:41:45.000Z
And I'm sure Fresca hates you too Oh wait, you meant the drink?

I need a better camera with an awesome telephoto lens.  There are too many beautiful critters around my house!  Including those gorgeous owls that live in my barn.

By the way, Jessica, you and I hate all the same stuff!  Yay!

## Romi (admin) · 2008-02-18T15:50:47.000Z
LOL, having a bad day jess?  jk.  I hate all the above, but I LOVEEEE gossip magazines.  I don't know why.  But I can be in a magaize for hours.  Whenever i'm annoying John out of boredom, he just throws me a magazine and im good to go!  I think its just funny how people twist and turn things around and try to make people look bad.  Its a bit ridiculous, but very entertaining to me.  The only magazine I take their word for is People.  But US Weekly and In Touch is all for giggles.

## JessicaRabbit (admin) · 2008-02-18T15:57:09.000Z
I hate the gossip mags because my family had all sorts of things written about us after my dad died. I think a lot of times that just because someone is famous in no way makes them less human and those magazines dehumanize people.

There are next to no animals I dislike, except silverfish eeeewwwww, and most parasitic creepy crawlies. But otherwise I like animals WAAAAAYYYY better than people.

Heidi- I knew I liked you!

Dave-yup the beverage. only thing grosser is Moxie, which tastes like what I imagine carbonated ear wax would taste like.

## _dlroberts · 2008-02-18T16:09:11.000Z
Never heard of Moxie, but I'd imagine carbonated ear wax would be pretty disgusting. I saw on national geographic or discovery or one of those last week that Sumo in Japan drink fresh frogs blood before a match. I think that might be more disgusting, but perhaps that's just me.

## JessicaRabbit (admin) · 2008-02-18T16:10:20.000Z
Is it carbonated? If it is, Moxie is grosser.

## _dlroberts · 2008-02-18T16:19:31.000Z
Nope, not carbonated. But they do serve it on the rocks!

## JessicaRabbit (admin) · 2008-02-18T16:31:09.000Z
I think I just threw up a little.

## MommyofNiko · 2008-02-18T17:17:10.000Z
Im officially bowing out of this post....Poor heidi....Jess and Dave took over!

## _dlroberts · 2008-02-18T17:20:13.000Z
Actually, we should say "Poor Rakka..." (Sorry Heidi )

## JessicaRabbit (admin) · 2008-02-18T17:54:09.000Z
guilty as charged.

but SOMEONE (...Rachel ) asked me if there was anything I didn't love .

Sorry Heidi

## MommyofNiko · 2008-02-18T18:53:55.000Z
OK I will take the blame....Sorry Rakka!

## hondru (moderator) · 2008-02-18T23:18:42.000Z
Rakka forgives you.  There's only so much to say about rabbits and quails before the topic changes!

By the way, Noah tells me that Loki and Rakka just about caught a rabbit today.  He says Loki saw it first and started to chase it and then Rakka joined in.  He says if Rakka had seen it first, she would have caught it for sure because Loki got pretty close and he's a slow old man!

## brada1878 (admin) · 2008-02-19T00:16:57.000Z
wow! Would you have let them eat it? I totally would... but it would suck if they just played with it and then left it for dead.

## Edgewood · 2008-02-19T10:57:17.000Z
I bet that they would kill it very fast. At least my Siberians did when they caught something. I know once I was mowing the front lawn and almost ran over a bunny (didn't see it till too late) and it ran under the fence right into the "den" of 3 Siberians. It was caught and promplty killed by the dogs before I could get it out. Same with ground hogs. They intial shaking that dogs do seems to break the animals neck. Mine never tried to eat their prize at all though. And they never kept it alive for long.

I never liked letting them catch prey, but in an area with a lot of squirrels, rabbits, and ground hogs, it is inevitable that the dogs catch some. I find that they are much better about finishing off the prey quickly vs cats, which seem to LIKE to torment their catch. I see my barn cats keep catching and releasing the mice until they finally decide to eat it after 10 minutes of tormenting it.
