Some of the parks we have in Atlanta are well manicured, but NO shade - Brook Run goes the opposite way. I do hate the "Holy crap, where's my dog?" feeling though. We had a great turnout. At one point there had to have been at least 15 Shibas there. One of our newest members brought his 11 year old named Keira (she's in one of LJ's pictures). She's the oldest Shiba I've ever met! I also had a first with Lucy. There are some "trails" through the woods inside the fenced area and I went for a little walk around the perimeter. Joey was off chasing Jake around so I called to Lucy and she came happily trotting up the trail. She would scamper ahead and then stop to sniff around. I would walk by and get 50 or 100 feet ahead of her and call her again. Much to my surprise she would snap to attention, look around to find me, and then happily run up infront of me and stop to sniff again. This happened four or five times! Then, at one point, I lost sight of her completely when I took a little shortcut so I called for her to come once, then a second time about 10 seconds later and then she came bounding through the woods right up to me! It was awesome! I felt so in tune with her. I was hoping you had gotten a shot of Alphie - such a cutie! I love the one of Jazz "smiling" while Elaine is holding her. It is her look of, "Yep, conned another human into picking me up! Jen and I used to frequent the Brook Run park, its a nice one and most of the people are that go there are friendly. We used to just constantly walk the perimeter and our pups would follow behind use, or run ahead of us then wait... it was cool. ---- ## ddowdemers · 2008-06-23T14:35:59.000Z What a wonderful place to unleash your dogs. Great photos. It's a good thing that the dogs are wearing colored collars. Yikes....how could you tell them all apart? ## ljowen123 (moderator) · 2008-06-23T14:48:03.000Z It can tough - that's one of the reasons why I got Jazz the harness that she has - we added the yellow bow since we were going to Brook Run so that we could her in the woods and know where she was. Having his tail biten by that 'misbehaved black dog', one w/out Shiba etiquette, burst his little ego and drained his energy. Well, that and running around for hours like a chicken with its head cut off and being the little boy that he is.
